Taking apart Kyosho/Auto Art for repaint?

1.Has anyone taken apart either the Kyosho or Auto Art prebuilt models for repainting? It seems as though the there are no kits with sunroofs and there are definitely some details missing in the Revell kit. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2.Are there any models/kits with 15" 8-Spoke wheels. I'm considering fabricating/casting some out of resin if there are other enthusiasts interested.

I am looking at my Autoart model with 15" (?) 8 hole and sunroof. It took a while to find this one, but they do exist. Only problem is the sunroof doesn't open and think I saw one later that did. Had thought about taking apart to paint IB ....but my MINI got here to divert me.

Where did you get that one? My local AutoArt dealer says that he has never seen one with a sunroof.

BTW: Kyosho's sunroof does open.

I knew Kyosho had the sunroof opening, but they didn't have the 8 hole wheels. Did a lot of searches to find the combination.

Go here...Autoart sunroof/8 hole MINI model is shown.

I have the Kyosho with the opening sunroof - it has the 5-spoke wheels - but I haven't repainted it

Mine? BRG/W

- BUT it has the navigation system with the standard FM aerial, not the fin!

OTHERWISE, the attention to detail is really good!

Somehow, that Nav System really bugged me. Don't know why they did that as it is not a standard feature. I love my huge spedometer!

Here is what my wheels look like w/ covers. Sorry they are very dirty from brake dust; waxed but not cleaned yet.

Oops. Forgot to mention that they are 15" dia. and the covers come off to reveal the 4 bolts holding them in place.
There is even a cool bent wire tool in the Boot Jack/Accesory unit just for removing the covers.

Gosh, that's really good attention to detail - which model manufacturer is your car from? (My model was spotless, like a new car from the factory).

Edit: I see you were asking about the AutoArt one now, sorry

I got mine from Mad4Models listed as a vendor here at Mini2. Kyosho 1/18th scale with opening sunroof, MCS DS/B and R84 Y-spoke wheels. Detail is very good, 2 errors: Inside door reflector button is red (On real car they're white) Boot lift handle is Chrome (On car it's body color). The quality of the model is fantastic, and has great shine and metal flake.

Ha haaa!
Very funny, that's my real MINI.
I'm just trying to match the wheels on the model/real one.

The detail in your model is amazing.
Do I detect the possibility of repainting the inaccurate details?

I'm convinced; ordered a Liquid Yellow w/ SR from Kyosho from www.scale18.com to be repainted into Silk Green.

Guess I should add a little brake dust to the wheels since that seems to be its (real MINI) perpetual state no matter how much I clean them.
