Question Anybody know what "37" is all about???

Can anybody advise me what "37" is relevant to?

If you look at the MINI Merchandise, some of it has "37" on it...

Something that's been bugging me for a while now, so I thought I should try to find out!!!

Let me know asap if you know!!!

Thanks and regards

It's a bit of Mini history. (Or a reference to it rather).
