To digress for a minute . . .

I'll see about getting "group rate" at a hotel in the area. So, I need to know how many folks are planning to stay in Bangor on Thursday night. PM or email me offline.

Now back to your customary conversations . . .

If they can do this kind of radiation detection externally I am not opposed. It seems to be a much more useful security sreening than the crap they do at the airport, where they stop your tweezers but only inspect a fraction of the baggage and cargo going on.
I DO have issues with the unapproved, and likely illegal wiretapping that was recently disclosed. After all, we're supposed to take George 'n D*ick's word that they are only targeting terrorists. They would never hold a grudge against honest citizens that may criticize their administration, and do something like disclose that your spouse is a spy for the CIA, would they?

I seem to recall that Greg's videotaping of the border crossing was very attention-grabbing for our queue's guard .... I think she said something to the effect that if he looked more Middle Eastern, he and we all would have been spending a looooong time at the office there....

Hey NoNo, I've been meaning to e-mail you. I hadn't planned on doing this trip every year, but I think I'm going to feel like you mentioned you would have felt about last year's trip if you hadn't gone -- regretful. Do you already have someone in mind for your shotgun seat, or if I go, could I ride w/you?

I'm waiting to hear back. As soon as I have an answer, I'll let you know. Glad you're at least thinking about it.

Thumbs up

Starting to get pumped. I have my confirmation for the ferry with quad cabin. I was surprised to find all the outside cabins were gone on Friday. I thought there'd be very few crazies making the trip with us. Surprise, surprise.

Oooh, called the ferry already, eh? I'm willing to do a quad if there's another pair that wants to split it.

Ferry

I just booked the ferry online. They charge $25 to your card now and the rest is due when you show up. The process is simple but a bit slow. It does work a lot better than the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket Steamship Authority site.

Bangor is a little over 300 miles from here so Nick and I will press on about 100 miles further to make the next day's travel a little easier.

There's three decks of cabins, so if you do not see a cabin available,
look on another deck.

100 miles further would put you just over the border crossing at Calais/St. Stephen.

If you like picturesque, I recommend St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, NB. It has great views of Passamaquoddy Bay.

As a veteran of last year's trek but sadly unable to make this year's, I was prepared to offer cautionary words about Mr. Rose, Joesph. However, he is unable to go, I understand, so I will keep my warnings on a hold list . Still, there is NoNo, a positive addition to any trip where enthusiasm is needed and one of my favorite cuties. And, if the original mastermind of insanity, Mr. Rose, David, does show...just count how many boots one human can wear at one time and do not follow too closely.

Have a terrific trip, folks. Be careful out there.

Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear.
