A Chicago Box is pretty much a three cone slalom / emergency lane change thing, with a bunch of extra cones to confuse you.
I attached a crappy overhead view of one, very rough / quick image.
Imagine a straight going from bottom to top - this thing is put in the middle of it. Usually, they're placed so you have to move a half car width or so off to the right to avoid the "near wall", then weave around the cone in the center, avoid the "far wall", then move back left a half car width or so to continue on the "straight".

Funny, I've never been to an autocross where results are announced...you're lucky if their posted to the web site within a week. Don't sweat it jason!
I thought a chicago box was the more simpler four cones in a square, and one cone right smack in the middle, and your choice of which side to go around that middle cone. Your graphic is sort of the same thing, well half of one with more defined walls.

Glad your event went well despite the weather! Sounds like fun.
I ended up with a blown head gasket so missed the hillclimb. Boo!

I like the idea you describe too. We'll have to throw one of those into a course sometime.

I think we called those a "garage" in Indy. Ah, local vernacular.

I hate the day before a track event. Thoughts of my car crunched against a wall keep running through my head.

At least it's had a good life..!
As long as you don't see yourself crunched against a wall
And as long as you're not Desmond on Lost..!
Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else.

Hope you made it through today with all your (and your car's) body parts intact!
Just got this email; I'm planning on going.
Quote:
Dear Boston Chapter Member,
For all you track junkies, or others who could not attend todays Boston Chapter School at NHIS.
SCCA's Performance Driving Experience (PDX) provides an instructional environment for drivers who want to improve their skills and increase their enjoyment of driving their street vehicles. All it takes is your street car, a valid license and a helmet.
Plenty of seat time, plenty of individual instruction and a ton of driving exercises make up PDX. Participants receive a solid blend of instruction ranging from classroom to in-car training to "follow me" drills. Each driver receives feedback from the instructor at the end of every session. PDX events are non-competition because the focus is on the driver and development of skill behind the wheel.
Registration fee is $200. Membership in SCCA is not a requirement. Participants must be 18 or older. Helmets required are M2000, M2005, SA2000, SA2005.
Registration contact is Terry Roberts at
terryroberts@comcast.net until Friday AM
More info about the event: Serge Lentz 845 361 3844; Kathy Barnes 860 841 5083 (Saturday and Sunday - message)
Registration at the track will open on Monday at 7:00 AM and there is no late fee but we would like to know of anyone who is sure they will be attending.
Please register by tomorrow 12:00PM. Send me an email if interseted and I can forward the entry forms ASAP to you

If you ever have the chance, go with an SCCA program.

I'm going to give it a whirl. Must be fate (couldn't have anything to do with the fact that I have no life) that I've got Monday free.

I'm back, no damage to the car, though I tried:
tankslapper - Google Video
I moved the rear swaybar from the middle setting to the softest setting after that session.

Wacking that berm and the dirt beyond might also have had something to do with it. Great reaction, perfect recovery by both you and the instructor. I'm still going to wave you by again the next time you show up in my mirrors
I sent in a registration request for Monday's SCCA event, if everything lines up properly, hope to be there also. What's the weather supposed to be like?
