It was during the club racing that was going on, not the DE (driver's ed... the thing I was there for). According to the article I found, it was a 1993 BMW 325is. To be in a BMWCCA Club Race, it had to have had a full cage, 5 or 6 point harness, seat back brace, and some other stuff...

That's scary. Especially if he had all that equipment. I guess none of it really helps a head-on impact like that.

That's the point I was making... In the end, the energy goes somewhere and if it's a concrete wall you're hitting, it's not taking much of that energy.

Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else.

Greg, that was a friend of Ada's. Terrible tragedy.

I'm seriously considering the R-3 head and neck device, as an instructor it would seem to have greater flexibility. In any case, I will have some H & N for the start of next season.

I'm planning on renting a Spec Miata for a few race weekends before deciding in which direction to go. Do I want to get a race prepped BMW, say Spec E30, or turn my track MINI into a race car.....I'll start with the race rental and see how I like it.

My experience has been that I drive faster when I'm racing.......

If it's a Dave Del Genio car and you have any problems just let me know and I'll go over and thrash him.

Velvet Cooper Instructor Video

Finally found the software needed to download video from my Sony camcorder to the PC!

Dave Thibodeau has graciously allowed me to post the only video I got at the White Mtn. chapter's "End of Summer" school on Oct. 30th. It's a big file, over 20 minutes long.

The driver is my instructor, Carl Scholz; I am in the passenger seat. First time I've had an instructor who also drives a MINI on the track. His input was extremely valuable!

Enjoy,

Pete

I didn't realize Carl was an instructor! He was on our first ever MINI drive back in November '02 ... he still owns a MINI?

Ian C. Gloucester, MA, USA (UK expat) driving GPMINI or a non-MINI!

Pete,
No sound for me, but I'll try again.
Carl is a great guy and he was my very first instructor at LRP. Was he driving his Mini or yours?
Ian, yes Carl has a Blue S, I think electric blue.

Greg,
Will you and your souped-up MINI come to the Care For Keith event this weekend?

Pete

Any feedback on that new bar we installed?
Did Carl make any suggestions on break up-grades or any up-grades for that matter as I am compiling a list for my Mini.

thanx
Pat

Ian, I can't make that event as the Mini has been put away for this season. I did though send a donation this last weekend.
Sounds like huge fun!
