I've been away from Mini2 for a bit, and just noticed this new thread. I have to say I was a bit surprised when I saw the menu. I thought for sure that Duck would have been the entree of choice; whether it be Peeking (a shy mallard), L'Orange or Electric Blue! Chicken is a poor land-lubbing substitute... Greetings all!

Ha! Bowing out before the competition even begins! Why? Because you know you don't stand a chance against my arsenic-laced ninja calzones! Now, what I want to know is why does a Spaniard know so much about haggis? Also, what are your credentials regarding the taste of a NYC subway bathroom?
| ||||
I see your "Ha!" and raise you a "Ho ho!". I feel quite confident that my business would be vastly more successful than yours, if for no other reason than because I had no intention to lace my products with arsenic, thus allowing for the possibility of repeat customers (and believe me, there would be repeat customers). Fun though poisoning people is, eventually you run out of people. I'm too clever to have an MBA, but I'm pretty sure that's not good for a business plan. A Spaniard learns much about haggis when the Spaniard in question is actually half Spanish (mother's side) and half Scottish (father's side). Ah hah! I'm Ricardo (which is a Spanish name, of course), my brother is Douglas (a Scottish name, means "dark water" or "dark river"). Just be thankful that, when considering a culinary contribution to this vast repast, I chose to draw upon my Spanish ancestry rather than my Scottish ancestry. I think there would be far less enthusiasm for the latter. But I could ditch the tortilla and bring haggis if people want? You mean you don't know how a NYC subway bathroom tastes? Such a sheltered life... -Ricardo (who owns a kilt and isn't afraid to use it)

MaxBro- not to worry, I'm sure ducks will be featured guests and not on the menu! ![]() Ricardo, the sudden visual image of goalie with kilt was almost too much! My daughter loves haggis. (Sob!) Where have I gone wrong? Maybe it was all that time she spent in NYC as a child. Hmm. She says vegetarian haggis is good too. (The mind boggles at that one...) ![]()

Hey, good haggis can be good. At our wedding (in Scotland) we had haggis stuffed chicken breast and it was good. A lot of people ate it, said how nice it was and then asked what it was... funny the number of people who turned up their noses only once it had been called 'haggis'. I think haggis needs an image makeover..! Anyone noticed how OT this thread (and all our others) has gotten..? ![]() Religion is like a huge dog. If it's yours it's very friendly and comforting, but it scares the heck out of everyone else.

I'm sure that, after a sufficient quantity of whisky, haggis appears to taste good. So do sawdust, gravel, and cellophane wrappers. It if one disguised the haggis as a small ingredient in a greater overall dish, with other lovely flavors to cover it up, it might also be made to appear good. Again, much like sawdust, gravel, and cellophane wrappers. As for veggie haggis, I've had that too. I'd say it tastes maybe 5% less revolting than the real deal. But the upside is the veggie haggis smells at least 40% less revolting than the authentic article. Closer to a Toronto subway bathroom. So that's nice. -Ricardo

Now what I notice ( and I'm probably way off ) is although quick to tag brother Douglas with the rather powerful " dark water / dark river meaning, is the Spanish goalie reluctant to give the background of " Ricardo "... ? How can you be in two places at once, when you're not anywhere at all ?
