Thanks to all who came - Pam and I had a great time (at least I did 'cuz she did most of the work). Great to see some folks I haven't seen in a while and great to meet some new folks, too (and you know who you are). Pam and I have just finished packing and are off to Bermuda for a few adys of R&R.
And a special thanks to bakerjc for the fabulous BBQ - pulled pork, baby backs and chicken. Also a few variations on stuffed jalapenos that were great. What the guy lacks in social graces he makes up for elswhere
John Lyons form MAW said that with the money raised that at least three wishes could be granted and he would put a face to those wishes for us as soon as he can. He was amazed by the generousity. Small car - Big hearts.

I received a very nice "Thank you" from Charlotte Beattie, the CEO of MAW, today that was addressed to me but really was directed to all the MOT attendees. "I am honored that you are partnering with us to give very ill children the restorative gifts of a wish: hope, strength and joy." "I look forward to providing the stories of the chilren's wishes funded through your contribution."
Everyone pat yourself on the back!

It has been a year and another MoT has come and gone but the work and contributions of MoT 2006 have just been realized. As predicted we covered the cost of three wishes-
One wish was granted to Pedro who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He is constantly in and out of the hospital and wanted a laptop with all the trimmings which is what he got. This way he can enjoy doing some of the same things he does at home while in the hospital - like movies, games, art and keeping in touch with his friends.
Another wish was granted for Alex, a 10 year old with cystic fibrosis. He wanted to go on a big cruise ship like the Titanic (without the iceberg) so Make-a-Wish arranged a week long cruise on Royal Carribean's biggest ship where he and his family were treated like VIPs meeting captain and crew as well as the cast of the shows. He even swam with the dophins in Cozumel.
And finally there was Miguel's wish. He has aplastic anemia and an acute desire to shop. He was taken by limo to Cambridgeside Galleria and shopped 'til he dropped. A portable DVD player to go to the doctor's with him, sneakers, winter gear, stacks of toys that included a video spy camera remote control car.
These wishes were granted because of the efforts and generous hearts of all that attended MINIs on Top and the family and friends we all hit up to buy raffle tickets, play trivia games, buy auto badges etc.
Thanks to all and a tip of my many MINI hats to you - Miguel, Alex and Pedro
