I know you will all be thrilled to hear that MaxaMiniBro will be attending this year's festivities - as a poor substitute for his rather illustrious sibling. Right now it appears the family will be traversing Canada and dropping down from the Montreal area to get there. (So I can pick up some of that poontang stuff that Ricardo is alluding to all the time - I didn't think it tasted that bad?!) Will meet with Mart at the T&C and look forward to actually meeting most of you in a very social setting. I'm excited!
I'm also looking forward to breaking the hillclimb record in Electric Blue - it's only about 6 minutes or so...Mart says she doesn't really like being up there, so I'll likley be taking one of my children and inducing another set of white knuckles in the flatlander. Heh.

Bert,

Very good news that you will be attending MOT ' 06 !! It'll be great to see you in a happy scene like that !! As far as the " poontang stuff Ricardo is always alluding to " ... I can't wait for the details on that.

How can you be in two places at once, when you're not anywhere at all ?

I dunno 'bout that, that sure doesn't sound like fries, gravy, and cheese curds to me. I haven't been to Peel Pub in a while, maybe the menu has changed...

As a "yellow shirt" type guy, I now feel that I must make amends for my own off topic post and do my civic duty to drag this thread back on topic. Once upon on a time in years past, Ed and I were sort of the unofficial "on topic" police, periodically stepping in amidst the continual banter and in-jokes with a note to remind people (i.e. any confused newbies) as to what the event is, where to get info, not to fear the natives, etc. This thread is already averaging about a page a day, and it's just gonna get worse. So in Ed's honor, let me post the first "reminder" note of MOT'06 for the benefit of any new folks wondering what we're on about here, a note likely to be repeated periodically over the next six months as the banter increases and this thread inevitably spirals past 1000 posts;

MINIs On Top is an event centered around a motoring trip up to the summit of the tallest mountain in the east, Mt Washington, in order to watch the sunset with 220 or so MINI-loads of your closest friends. The date is June 17th, 2006. Prior to the ascent, there's a catered dinner at the base. There's also a growing assortment of other events going on during the weekend, including a Friday night gathering, various drives, an R/C rally, a photo hunt, organized drives to the area from all around the region, etc.

This is not a free event, there is a charge for going up the hill and there's a charge for the catered dinner. There will also be the opportunity to buy window decals and t-shirts. A great many various and sundry items will be raffled off to support an as-yet-to-be-named charitable cause. Details on past costs and good causes can be found at www.minisontop.com under "MOT 2005" and "Times Of Yore".

Details on all this and more will be posted as they become available. As ever, the best places for up to date info will be www.minisontop.com and this thread. Go to this link to sign up for updates. Contrary to all the in-jokes from previous years, there isn't really any pre-registration or pre-pre-registration or whatever else. Just sign up for the update list, and when the time comes that you can register, you'll be told ASAP. Registration is first-come, first-served, and there is a limit on how many cars can join (a limit we bumped into last year, so get on that notification list now!).

Here ends the responsible grown-up note from me.

-Ricardo

PS I hate the term "newbies". Not newbies themselves, just the term...

Hi Bert -- glad to hear you'll be there. If you bring your golf clubs, you can participate in the First Annual Maxamini T&C Parking Lot Driving Range Competition.

I wish we were there now.

1) Bert, glad to hear you're coming! I'm sure we'll get into some trouble.

2) Who the hell gave Ricardo "yellow shirt" status?

I must confess that the thought of Ed & Ricardo being the "On Topic Police" does bring forth the following reaction:

Bwahahahahah!!!!!!!

It actually struck me very funny when Ed used to post those reminders on the 'Official' thread. Though really he was trying to recap for the poor unfortunates who wandered in unknowingly & tried to make sense of what was going on.

I have to admit to having read every post of the first MOT thread, even though I couldn't make it in 2003. (I almost did, but had to take my daughter to JFK for a flight to the UK that day) My initial reaction was "what a group of lunatics" and "where do I sign up?"

I've had it all along, ought to pay more attention there missy! It was granted to me by the Codfather, when I designed that logo that's been on the t-shirts and window decal each year since we started this thing...

I remember the video well! The clubs will be packed. There was a golf course in Bethlehem that has a great moose logo that I stopped at last year, but they were out of logo balls. Looked like a fun course.
One of my fondest Maxamini memories is a visit to Grand Rapids a few years ago where we played a spirited match. I can still see the shocked, puzzled, quizzical look on Ed's face as I played the round of my life and totally spanked him. One of the highlights of my golf career as I sent MM down the "boulevard of broken dreams". I miss him, but know that he is enjoying all of the Mini banter from on high. Merry Christmas Ed!

That was you? Oh, I'm so going to beat you senseless the next time I see you. God, could that thing be any more boring? I propose a change of logo and also would like to nominate "not me" to do the design. How's that for constructive criticism? In all seriousness, the only problem I have with the decals is that they're too big. Winslow's got all three on his back window and consequently has about a 3 sq. in. viewing area.

Winslow driving with that little field of view makes for an interesting day though..

Let me design the new logo... skulls and bats and evil dragons...LMFAO!.. maybe I could even fit in a small army of zombies or wait.. I know.. NECROMANCERS!... now that would be a cool MoT logo!! yeah!!!! I'm on it.. Bwaaaa Haaa Haaaa!!!!

Stop the world, I wanna get off!!!

Hmm golf balls and MINI windshields...doesn't sound like the greatest combination.

Annette, try starting with less then 1 square foot of viewing space on the convert and then put a MOT decal back there. Thanks god for standard PDC on the 'verts.

RIP Boo

Hey, I'm just the guy who designed it, I'm not the one who decides if it should be pocket sized or billboard sized or whatever else. That's someone else's department...
