"Boot Sale" at MINIs on Top?

The MINIs on Top organizers are entertaining the concept of supporting a swap meet at the Loon Lot on Saturday, June 17th. This "Boot Sale" is generally a person-to-person event to allow folks to clean their garages of spare MINI/Mini items and to search for other wanted items (e.g.; that elusive electric blue, battery powered, intercooler dress-up lighting kit).

Some general guidelines:

- This would be an informal affair held Saturday morning at Loon. With driving events starting between 11:00 am and 12:00 noon, buyers and sellers are urged to arrive early in the morning to set up and to shop. Organizers will be at the Loon Lot by 8:00 am (at least I am!).

- Interested sellers (sellers only!) would need to declare their participatory intention on the MOT Registration Form.

- Boot Sale participants would park in a designated area for the sale, allowing attendees to easily shop in one area.

- This would not be a commercial event per se. No trailers, trucks, booths, kiosks, tents, Lean-Tos, tree houses, or igloos. However, if you are a MOT 2006 attendee and run a MINI-related business, upon approval of the MOT organizers, you may be allowed to bring and sell only that which would meet the size/quantity restrictions in the next paragraph.

- Sellers would be limited to selling only those items/quantities that could be carried in a single MINI's Boot. For measurement purposes, folded down back seats are allowed.

- No tables or other display furniture/equipment would be allowed. You would also be able to display items on the roof/inside of your MINI/Mini.

- Sellers would be strongly encouraged to donate 10% - 15% of their net proceeds to MINIs on Top for full and direct deposit to the chosen MOT charity.

As of the date of this topic, the Boot Sale has not reached "official" status. We are only trying to ascertain the degree of intrest for this potential event.

All comments would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Theo

Two cents worth: If one were to have a boot sale, the lot at the Auto Road might not be a bad alternative to the Loon lot, as one notable feature of the past two years has been a lot of spare time spent milling about in the Auto Road lot while waiting for the tent to be available / set up etc.

Plus it gives an option for people to fill that time gap between the earlier drives and when they are supposed to be at Auto Road (assuming that lot would be available a little earlier).

How many people have the Mini magic eightball in thier collection?
I am On my second car and must have 3 cars worth of stuff.

This is a great idea. I agree the base of mt washington is another option. In either case it depends if it is pouring rain or not!

I second this idea. Late arrivals from Bar Harbor could then shop in sleep deprived slendor
