My experience at Red Roof Inn last year was that the room was clean but musty. Hmm, maybe if I go to Yankee Candle first for the scented candle.. .

We may have lucked out, but as we have friends in the area we've stayed at the RedRoof Inn both going to and on the way back from last year's MOT as well as a couple of nights last Fall as well. Never any musty smells, but the rooms are a bit on the plain side. As a place to spend a quick night it's been OK for us. The one big advantage is that it's a 20 second drive from the Yankee Candle.

YM -

Is Niner Cat a passenger in your MINI or will she be driving her own?

My experience at Red Roof Inn last year was that the room was clean but musty. Hmm, maybe if I go to Yankee Candle first for the scented candle.. .

The Holiday Inn in Hadley is located at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 116. There is also a Howard Johnson's Express there as well. There is a mall and multiplex theatres about 1 mile toward the west and one of the area's best diners is less than a mile away toward the east.

To get to YC from either hotel, just take Route 116 north to the intersection with Route 5 (about 20 minutes) and turn right onto Route 5 north. You will then see the Exxon/Mobil station/convenience store on your left, then the Red Roof, then YC all in rapid succession.

Let me know if anyone has questions about the local area...

NinerCat is flying east & coming up in the caravan to the caravan with me. I bet she'd like to drive, but it's a 3000 mile trip (one way) . I bet if she did she'd get the distance award!

If she's coming that far she should get it anyways.

For those joining the western NY caravan to the YC caravan and thinking of staying closer to the gathering point at the Oven Door Bakery, the closest hotel is the Brookwood Inn, located about 1/4 mile from where we'll be meeting up. There's also a Hampton Inn in Victor NY, located a couple of miles off the NY State Thruway and about three miles from the bakery.

Welcome, smurfy!

You're all set. I assume you'll be joining us at Yankee Candle?

Welcome to everyone! Last year we had 37 MINIs in the Caravan by the time we left Area 51 for Gorham. We are now 21 in number, so I think we might have a shot at eclipsing last year's numbers!

For those of you who are driving a long distance and will need a place to stay in the Western MA area, I will be adding some Western MA Information to the website to help you select lodging and restaurants. The middle of June is a fairly quiet time in this area. The Five Colleges (Smith, UMASS, Amherst, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire College) have let out and that radically cuts down on traffic and restaurant waiting lines while increasing the availability of lodging.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the area.

Thanks,

Theo

I think we were all planning on stopping nearer to Erie PA. Is this correct PJ? Maybe this is changed now? We'll discuss via email to finalize where we're staying the first night

Oh - forgot --

Please add paulr to the YC visit and caravan. One MINI and two people, myself (Paul) and my wife (Barbara).
