Check with April Whine about the Outer Banks part of it, since she's from that neck of the woods. Sounds like fun!

As we get a bit closer to the event, those who have signed-up will receive mobile phone numbers for both the YC and A51 Meeting Point Coordinators.

This will allow you to contact the group if you are running late. However, we do need to stay on a schedule, so waiting to leave the meeting points by a few minutes is one thing but waiting 1/2 hour or more is another. Remember that we are planning to leave Yankee Candle at 11:15 am sharp and Area 51 at 2:00 pm.

Please check your watches! For you 24-hour clock enthusiasts, that's 1115 and 1400 hours. For my feeble melon, I need to remember that Mickey's big hand will be pointing to the three and his small hand....

You may also feel free to call my mobile phone at any time before the event should you have a question. Chip (chs4 - A51 Meeting Point Coordinator) will need to chime in on his pre-event availability, however.

Here's to a fun feeder event!

I am also available at any time up to and including the day for additional information, questions, gratuities, etc...

Seriously, feel free to contact me at anytime. I plan to be at A51 well ahead of the 2:00pm departure, but if anyone's schedule puts you in the area REALLY early let me know and I'll arrange to be there so you're not hanging out by your lonesomes.

Wrecker, let me know if you're planning on spending any tine on Ocracoke Island when you go to the Outer Banks. We've been going there for years (just were there about 5 weeks ago).

pamlico, Not sure what or where we are going. Not making reservation, just motoring, stopping when we get tired (Big difference for me and my wife, Donna). Leaving the Dragon on Sunday 5/7, headed for Key West, don't know if we will stay there or do a 180 and head north again. Might stay a couple days in the keys, might not????? Should put us up around Ocracoke around Friday 5/12 but who knows.

I would like some info on the ferry situation, will I have to make reservations ahead or is it usually not to busy in May. I would think this is before the ON season, but will carry the phone # and call ahead anyway once we decide when we will get there.

Looking forward to MOT. I had a riot driving up the Pikes Peak Auto Road last August, and have done a New England tour a few years ago but in a full size van.

wrecker - check this site for the ferry schedule. If you'll be taking the free ferry from Hatteras no reservations are needed or taken. If you're coming from the south and taking either the Cedar Island or Swan Quarter ferry (they dock in the actual town of Ocracoke where the Hatteras ferry docks about 12 miles away at the opposite uninhabited end of the island) you probably don't need a reservation at that time of year, but it's always a good idea to make one. The Swan Quarter ferry is only running twice a day until further notice due to boat repairs, so I'd lean towards Cedar Island.

Your trip sounds great. Have a good time.

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted. I've sorta been neglecting MOT and focusing on MOTD preparations. Not to hijack the thread but is anyone else going to MOTD next month? It would be nice to say hi in person!

Anyways, I did make reservations for the Red Roof Inn next to Yankee Candle for Thursday night. Anyone else staying there? The rest of the Illinois group is quiet this weekend - everyone must be enjoying the really beautiful weather we're having in Chicago right now

"So," I said after I'd had enough, "you've ruined it".

We're at the RedRoof on Thurs as well.

If you're coming from Chicago take a look at some of the previous postings in this thread. There's a sub-caravan to the Yankee Candle forming here in the Rochester area (- actually a southeastern suburb of Rochester - about 3 miles from Exit 45 on the NY State Thruway). Meeting on the AM of Thursday, June 15th. Plan to leave here around noon or a little before. There are tentative plans to turn north a little before hitting the Massachusetts border and take Route 2 across the top of Mass. After going through some towns, etc. in NY and far western MA, Rt. 2 is a much more scenic and fun to drive road than the interstate.

we're one of the MINIs in that group - with Becky and her crew and Dennis and Michael.

A get-togther Thursday night sounds like a good idea! It'll be a good way to match names with faces for this newb here in a smaller (easier) environment

Whoo Hoo! We made our reservations at the Red Roof for Thursday, the 15th!!!
Are you going to pick out one of those rave restaurants for out "meeting" Theo?!! Looking forward to seeing you and all!!! Anyone for a movie after?

Paul ~ Staying in Wellsville on Wednesday sounds great! (Isn't there a movie about some health sanatorium there? Mathew Broddick in it?) Does the diner open in time for us to get on the road to the Oven Door on time? (Sounds like we are eatting our way to the east coast!! )

Remember to mention if you are a AAA member at Red Roof Inn! Nice discount!

Unfortunately, that is not the lobby of the RedRoof Inn where we're all staying.
