| ahh alos.. what we did last year.. 9it was a movable meet.. not a ralley.. we had a byob lunch at a closed Psych Center... <grin> the places we visited and photographed were: The Brooklyn-Milburn WaterWorks in Freeport (a block from my house) The Merrick Campgrounds (aka TinyTown) Checker's Grave.. (yeah Nixon's Dog) The King Zog ruins in Muttontown Preserve..(this took about 15 minutes to walk to it) Oheka Castle (the Otto E.Kahn estate.. one of the largest houses in the US) Kings Park Psych Center (now part of a state Park) Tesla's Original Lab (WardenClyffe) The Grumman Memorial (a floating F14) The Big Duck The Bellport Sphinx The Artist's Colony (part of the old Idle Hour Vanderbilt Estate) and then we went for dinner 2003 Pepper White, CVT, Cold Package, Premium Package, Chrome Inserts, Sport Seats, Euro Shelf, AUX Adapter, Taillight Brake Mod, Hot Pocket, Glovebox Organiser, Mini-Fini Cupholder |

| Rob (and others), My sister is manager of Montauk Inlet Seafood, the largest commercial dock in NY. They're opening a new restaurant there this spring, and I was chatting with her about making it a destination for a MINI run (she could accomodate a pretty large group for dinner). I had in mind a group run via ferry's for the New England crowd, but maybe it would be a good way to get our two geographically disparate groups together. For example, meet us on the North Fork (or at Port Jeff) when we get off the ferry, and we can tour around eastern L.I. (maybe some wineries, maybe take in the Shelter Island hop) then out to Montauk for dinner. For the N.E. crowd it would mean an overnight, but I think people would be up for it. Whaddaya think? p.s. -- I'm an ex-Smithtown boy myself, but it's been a verrrry long time.  |
