Offline | I don't think I'm going now... not becuase of MINIs overly legalese response. Just because it's a long way to go, I can't persuade anyone to go with me and I am slightly wary about how the new mini will be received. I'm sure those who go will have a great time. If I was two hours closer I'd be there... |

| MINI2 Regular | I just ordered my tickets, I'll be there. Do we have enough people from the Philly area to organize a group to drive up together on Friday morning? It should be a great weekend, hope to see lots of other MINI2-ers there. BTW, I signed up for the "Tour De Marque", International Car Corral, and will be camping at the track. Chris |

Offline | Re: Ok, I'm in! I haven't decided when I will go up. I just got my info pack for the Tour De Marque and registration is between 11am and 11:45am at Knapp Vineyards. I estimate that to be about 30 minutes or so beyond Watkins Glen. Anyone else know for sure? While my old personal record for Philly -> The Glen is 3 hours, 20 minutes, it will take a reasonably sane person concerned with retention of a driver's license somewhat longer than that. More likely 4.5 - 5 hours, not including stops. So, departure from Philly should probably be 6am I'd guess. Not sure when I will leave - I think I'll probably meet everyone up there. I may arrive a bit early so I can setup my tent. If you are camping, a bunch of us often camp in the area around the boot... Offline | Okay, here we go. Owner's Lounge says Enroute with anticipated delivery of 30 August. Mini of Towson says if not on that day, surly it will be here for me to drive to The Glen. So I just made my reservations at the Elmira-Horseheads Motel 6. I do not plan to buy the track tickets until closer to the time. I will not be up until later on Friday evening as Mrs. Fprodget has the same attitude about school as does Mrs. Gromit. By the way, do I need to buy two tickets if I choose the car corral with my 5 year old son along. Seems kind of pricey to buy him a $45 dollar corral pass, if I just purchased the $35 weekend pass. He can't eat that much food. I'm cheap this month. I am closing on a new house on the 29th and buying the new mini on the 30th (hopefully). Hope to see you all up there. |

Offline | Fun Roads From SE PA to The Glen? Well - the date is drawing closer and I am getting excited about the event. Work has been kind of a drag for awhile so I was thinking of taking Thursday off in addition to Friday (for the Tour de Marque, of course). I was thinking of taking some nice, fun roads from PA up to the Glen, with a few stops. So far, one road jumps out at me - take the PA Tpke to Harrisburg and then jump on Route 11 / 15 (the possibly fun road) north through a number of counties all the way to NY state. From there, Route 414 to The Glen. Any other suggestions of roads to drive, things to see, etc.? I'd probably take my time driving up. Definitely need to find a good roadside diner for lunch or dinner or something like that. Looking for ideas... ![]() Jason Jason Livingood | personal web site 2002 DS/W MINI Cooper S Thank you for signing my rear fog light petition. Now we have rear fogs! :-) |

Offline | Road to Watkins Glen... Rt. 11/15 north isn't that exciting with the exception of Trout Run to Blossburg. It is a divided highway, mostly uphill, and some of the best high speed twisties in PA. And oh how the MCS loves climbing at speed...but the best part of that stretch is the trip home (11/15 south)...tighter twisties all downhill. You cannot see the other side of the divided highway in either direction. I've done that stretch 25 times, but not since '97. Good luck and enjoy safely! |

Offline | Burnin' Weren't some bathrooms burned down a few years before that too? People have taken to burning couches at night at their campsites in recent years but the local track police have been cracking down on this in the past few years. So I hear, at least. | MINI2 Master | I was there in 1974 - my tent was nearly run over by a drunken dirt bike rider in the middle of the night!! Had a '66 911 at the time - the "race home" down US 15 was fun!! ![]() ======== Jason I'm going up during the day on Thursday - after I drop the dog off at the kennel - so I don't have to rush. I'm thinking about taking US 15 up to White Deer (I-80), then I-180 to US 220 - up through Sullivan County - Towanda - Athens/Sayre - to NY 17 to Elmira (staying in Horseheads). Will try to check on status of raod construction, etc. in the meantime. The other option (as suggested by COOPERation) is up US 15 to PA 14 (@ Trout Run. DECISIONS!!! DECISIONS!!! ![]() 2002 BRG/W [BRidGet] traded in on 2005 Jet Black/White/White Cooper [?name?] 2005 #1 wrecked by SUV on 6/03/05 2005 Jet Black/White/White Cooper (2005 #2) [?name?] picked up on 6/24/05 |

Offline | Hi all When I was at the vintage event in June at the Glen there were probably a dozen Minis there. I would expect to see a lot more there this time. Maybe people there from MINI2 should identify themselves. I was thinking about something like a ribbon on the antena or something. What do you think, is this a good idea? I'll be there on Sat and Sun, one day in my PS/B S with aerokit grills, and my beast, a white V8 powered TR6 the other day. Say HI if you see me. Greg |

| MINI2 Regular | Newbie looking for some help Hey, I am a newbie to attending any form of auto racing but would like to attend this thing up at the glen and was wondering if any other Mini owners from north jersey or nearby areas were planning on attending? I'm not up for camping this weekend as the one tent I do have is a monster that will be a royal pain to set up for only one night (I have work Friday and there is no way I could make it up Friday night. What nice and cheap (though working, i am still just out of college) motels are there to stay in? Any scenic route recomendation, or tips for navigating the area around Watkins Glen would be much appreciated. This should be a fun first road trip for my Cooper and I. The Lazer Chili Red w/ White Top/mirrors/wheels clear third brake light Sony Mp70 + T69 more to come? |
