Jackman Memorial

Some sad news to report from the NEMINI family. We lost another beloved member, John Jackson, better known as Jackman. He passed away this morning and leaves behind a wonderful wife and son. Jackman and Ed were good friends, and Ed was fond of sending gifts to young Justin. It's a tremendous loss and we'll miss him and his awesome spirit.

(stole your pic, John)

Here is a link to the thread started by Jackman's good friend and band mate, Scott aka hershmini: http://nemini.org/ForumsPro/viewtopi...351.html#87351

Perhaps these two posts should be split off into new thread for Jackman.

Thank you to the Moderator who split this thread off.

I met John/Jackman along with his lovely wife and son on my first MINI run - RDR II in March 2004 - and over the course of a few more MINI meets, I had a chance to see Jackman as both a chrome crazed MINI lover, a musician, a super friendly fellow with a great sense of humor and a caring husband and father. Though I did not know him well, I know his death is a great loss to many.

For those of you who knew John, you really should click on that link I posted because there are a lot of great memories, photos, and information about funeral/memorial plans that will be posted.

I thought my eyes were playing a trick on me. I am very saddened and shocked by this news. In the short time I’ve known him, I have shared some wonderful memories with him and his family and my iphoto album is filled with them.

Please enjoy browsing thru them:
• RDR II

•SCDA Lime Rock Event

•SUNRISE RALLY RUN

•ROLEX VINTAGE FESTIVAL

But here are a few of my favorite shots. You will be truly missed my friend.
My heartfelt prayers go out to Jeannie & Justin and the extended family and friends
and he was one awesome DUDE.

What a loss! I don't think I ever met Jackman, but his spirit certainly showed in his posts, and in the regard so many people had for him. Here's to Minis, and rockabilly, and everything in between.

JackmanAVP was the man with the mighty grin and the hearty handshake who greeted me first at many a run. Those sparkling blue eyes. He was the coolest NE MINI member by far, tall, handsome, and so very talented.

and boy, did anyone ever look so good in shades?

To John Jackson, JackmanAVP,
I will miss you. You are welcome to motor with me anytime.

thank you to nono and otra for getting this rolling, and the mod that helped.

GMINI, what a wonderful description! It wasn't til some time had passed that I actually found out Jackman's real name as I had just assumed "Jackman" was it. John was hale, hearty and handsome to be sure, with an obvious love of life - and that strong handshake, that huge smile and those sparkling blue eyes.

Over last night, I've heard from several who really knew him very well, as I believe you did, too John - about how he touched their lives with deep caring and support when they were going through rough times and it wasn't just lip service, either. He and Ed had a lot in common in this way.

As somewhat of a confused agnostic, I do like your offer to have Jackman ride with you anytime - so many of the photos and video clips show Ed and John together. As jcsinnh wrote on NEMINI:

Doesn't it seem, sometimes, that those who know how to really live life have to leave it way too soon?

May we all follow their great big hearted leads, live life to the fullest, and leave the world a better place.

When Mart called yesterday evening to tell me that we lost another MINI friend, my heart stood still to see if the name of one my MOT friends came next. She said Jackman, and in my fuzzy memory I couldn't picture him. When I went on here and saw the pictures, I instantly remembered him. I only met Jackman at Ed's memorial service, but quickly found out how much they meant to each other, and that John's son Justin was a frequent recipient of a Maxamini mailing. Jackman was truly distraught at the loss of Ed, and now to have him go as well - it is really, really sad.
My heart goes out to his family in this time of grief.

Altho we have not met Jackman, we are very sorry to hear of his passing. So young and full of life and then be taken away is truly hard on his wife and son. I guess Ed got too lonesome up there and wanted another buddy to drive with!

Our condolences to the family.

Sincerely,

Becca & Jar
