Track Day - NHIS

Hello, All,

Is anyone going to the next BMWCCA "High Performance Driving School" at NHIS on Friday August 18th, 2006 through Sunday August 20th, 2006 - 7:00am.

One day? or several?

from http://www.whitemtn-bmwclub.org/hpd_school.html :

Students will then get to put this knowledge to use, on the 1.7 mile road course at NHIS. With an in-car instructor, students practice the techniques learned through our fun and technically challenging course. With expert instructors, you receive immediate feedback as you progress through the learning process.

The invaluable insight and experience that our instructors possess, will help you become a faster and safer driver, both on track and off.

I'm thinking about it and checking the financial situation... I may be in for Saturday and Sunday.

It figures that I have no track events in July and potentially three multi-day events in August.

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Was accepted into the "passing in the corners" school. Woo hoo!

I just sent in my reg for Saturday and Sunday... I'm still a run group down from the "passing in the corners" folks, though I can solo.

Anyone have a hotel room to share for Friday / Saturday?

Hmmm... the Red Roof Inn down the street from the track claims to be full already...

My son and I will be there on Sunday. Matt (who is home from San Diego before moving to Hawaii) will also take to the track, sharing Play On driving time with me.

Got an email today from the WMC. They'd love to see us do an "all MINI" run group sometime during this event. I'm certainly on for that!

How many are planning to attend this? Just Pete, Jason, and me? I see Joe Marko is on the list and assume he'll have the HMS MINI there. Anyone else planning to attend?

C'on, Josh, can't you find $150 in quarters underneath the rear seat cushions or something ....

No..but you did just remind me that some change fell out of my pocket two days ago. I'll have to go digging.
Heck I haven't even been to an autocross this year.

That would be cool. I didn't get a message from the WMC, so they must like you better.

I'm still in for Sat and Sun, and still without a place to stay.

Off for Tremblant in a few hours!

So, does anybody know if we'll be running chicane / chicane or chicane / oval? I heard a rumor that the south oval may be something we don't get to do with the BMWCCA anymore (after the fatal accident during a club race).

The closest cheap room I could find for the weekend is down in Nashua.

I still need to flush my brake fluid before the event... I may wind up needing to enlist someone to help either Friday evening or Saturday morning if I don't find a helper before then to do it. Of course, if I work a full day on Friday, I won't hit the Loudon / Nashua area until around 8:00pm, which isn't prime brake bleeding time. I'm really gonna try to get it done before I head down. Saturday morning always feels rushed enough anyway.

Which reminds me... I need to print out a tech sheet...

Bikers were running the chicane / chicane today. They might do that all the time, though.

Eeek. Nashua is kinda far away. Try calling the Red Roof Inn in Loudon. I've heard they usually have rooms even though all the internet sites say they don't (603) 225-8399

Bear Brook State Park is in Allenstown, NH about 10 miles south of Loudon. A huge state park with lake -- many overnight campsites there to pitch a tent.

If you are really on a tight budget, have you tried asking the club and/or NHIS if you can pitch a tent right at the track? There seemed to be a bunch of bikers doing that today, in the lot off to the right after you pass the main gate.

Nashua at one hour away from the track is closer than home which is three hours away. I'm actually staying in Hudson, so it's closer than being in South Nashua.

The Red Roof is full on Saturday night, someone said there was a waiting list.

I've done the tent thing enough for this summer. I think I'll just deal with having to drive an hour in the morning to get to the track.
