Hey Pete, I'ld like to get that fumoto valve (I've already got it) in while I still have a prayer of having any threads left in my oil pan drain plug. So put me down for an oil change and valve install. On the off chance that the threads are too far gone do you have the helicoil set for this ? Keensert? Lots of loctite?? Mid to late morning would be ducky if possible.
Jock

PS I didn't like that oil that was put in at your place last time, so I'd like to stick with castrol.Do I need to bring that?

out of my mind.........back in five minutes.

Hopefully there will be nothing needed for my car, but I almost feel like I should book a slot pre-emptively.

Only joking, I may show up as a spectator though.

Where do you put the pulley on that thing? The glovebox?

Sorry Jock, we wont be doing any oil changes. That job you have is something I'd prefer to do at work.

Folks, the only parts I ordered for the pulley party are the pulleys. Unfortunately, the only other items I can bring are ones listed on my website's home page, assuming any are left.

Do you ever have Saturday hours? MoP did my last oil change and the service tech said he thought it would be the last one this plug would handle. As a machinist, I just don't get why MINI would have created this kind of long term problem.I have roughly 80 K. on my car and have done oil changes every 5K. religiously, and to think that a drain plug can't be screwed in and out 16 times without self destructing is un imaginable, especially since it gets bathed in oil each and every time!!!! What do they make their oil pans out of , recycled pepsi cans????

End of rant.I guess I should ask Jason for a loan of his avatar.

out of my mind.........back in five minutes.

We do have some saturday hours now. I usually don't work them, but I'd be glad to do that for you some sat. As for why this happened, usually I see stripped aluminum pans happen due to overtightening, the threads stretch and crack, end product is a plug that cant holdontoit

haven't looked, but if the pan is alum. and the plug is steel... well, shoot I'm not telling you anything you don't already know..

Pete's good about fixing stripped threads though.. just give the guy some JB Weld a helicoil kit and sit back..!

Please count me in for a time slot (10am or later please) for a pulley (which I already got from Pete B.)

With any luck I'll have an RSB by then too...

Thanks,
Pat
