UPDATE I

ArcticMINI.com

Original Posting:

I stumbled across Ross' website (ArcticMINI.com) just now, which got me to thinking . . .

How far North will the Intrepid MINI Travelers go in February 2007?

Or West . . .

What's your pleasure?

Back to Newfoundland? Undaunted by 100 mph winds and 35' seas, we'll make it to St. John's in 2007 come Hell or High Water!

Can't get further East unless we take a Freighter to Greenland . . . Which is shrinking, BTW, and should be visited soon!

Back to Radisson? They've never seen a MINI convertible there (at least in the Dead of Winter and with the temps at -31 degrees F) . . .

Or, how about a Great Lakes Circle Route . . . Buffalo NY to Duluth (I love that name, don't know what it means, but it just sounds cold!) to Thunder Bay and Sturgeon ONT (descriptive names if there ever were any; caviar on a cracker for everyone!) and back to Buffalo ("the healthy meat alternative")

What do you say???

Return to Hudson Bay 2010 (and 2011) . . . not

After a brief hiatus, I'm in. But it has to be < a 10 day trip. How about Santa's Village?

Hat Trick

Greenland.Com says there is no ferry service to Canada. We'll have to charter the Smallwood.

Sadly, I think I'd actually be up for a trip to Greenland if we found some feasable way to get there. I must have suffered some kind of permanent damage the last two trips

Stinky is IN. Just one request. This time you people can't let me just turn around and leave early.

So few Februaries, so many Arctic MINI routes.

St. John's. The thought of "Dancing Queen" piped over musac at the Abba is still so haunting. And aren't we owed Irish jig lessons? But then there's those half-raw half-burned scrambled eggs on the Smallwood...

Thunder Bay. If we deviate slightly from the Great Circle route we can stop for cubans in Toronto and deep dish in Chicago. But we'll have to choose between Toledo or Buffalo...

Hudson Bay. We never did see that power plant (and I never even saw the Northern Lights or any of Radisson at all, really). But then there's the poutine at that 1/2 way fuel stop....

Goose Bay. Ahhh. The lure of the Translabrador. But then there's the possibilty of facing 40 foot snow drifts...without poutine...

Nunavut. Let's not forget that we're all just in training for the ultimate Arctic MINI run, on the Contwoyto ice road. Heck if Blake can find Alaska in summer, we can certainly navigate the Northwest Territories in winter. But then there's the 4-5 day transit to get there....

Cuz you did so well on the boat last time?

Seriously though, I'm considering coming next time if it doesn't involve a boat!

Jar has been wanting to go on one of those trips for the past 2 years--but his job prevents that. Hey Thom, put me on a boat that rocks and I'll never puke! But I'll be crawling on the floor, !
