Vermont side Covered Bridge Tour...

We will be joining the Green Mountain Region Porsche Club for this great little tour.
- TSR53

From snid (Jason)...

Consider this the "tentative" route for the VT side of things. I haven't done the whole thing in sequence, so I don't know what the total drive time is. There's a chance it will be just too much driving for the NY folks.

Here's the google maps page for the VT ferry landing, and I'll give a quick overview of the route so you can follow along:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,0.066948&om=1

east on ferry road
turn left on lake rd
stop at Holmes Creek Bridge - there's a nice park there too with lake acces, picnic tables, grills, a playground, horseshoes, facilities, etc
continue on lake road
turn right on Greenbush Rd
turn left on Stage Rd
cross route 7, Stage Rd becomes old hollow road
turn left on Mt. Philo Rd
turn right on Spear Street
turn right on Monkton Road - Quinlan Bridge
turn left on Lewis Creek Rd (dirt road)
turn left on Roscoe Rd (dirt road)
Sequin bridge
turn right on Drinkwater Rd (dirt road)
turn left on Baldwin Rd (dirt road)
connects to Charlotte Rd (heading north - end of dirt road driving)
turn right on 116 (in Hinesburg) - stay on 116
turn left on Hollow Road / Hinesburg Hollow Rd
turn right on Main Rd
turn left on 17 (through the App Gap - major twisties)
turn left on 100 North (yes, left on 100 N - we're heading for more bridges and views)
turn right on Bridge Street
Waistfield bridge
bear right on E. Warren Road
turns into Brook Rd - stay on Brook Road into Warren
left on Main Street
right on Covered Bridge Road
Warren Bridge
left on 100 South
100 South through Granville Gulf
turn right on 125 / Middlebury Gap
Then...
Dinner at Fire and Ice Restaurant in Middlebury, VT if you can make it.

Cheers, Thompson

For the VT side - there's a small parking lot for the Charlotte ferry, and a slightly bigger "overflow" lot across the street (where there are some sailboats being stored. I'll hang out at one of those lots to meet the people coming across on the boat. Others may be happier waiting at the park at the nearby Holmes Creek Bridge.

I'll be there (at the ferry landing parking lot) at 2:30.

Jason

The sun is trying to poke through the fall blistery'ness this morning and I washed La Roux yesterday so it will rain right? Anywho, I've got some goodies for everyone and made up some maps too.

I've contacted Fire & Ice restaurant in Middlebury and the PCA & MINI Club have a reservation at 5:30pm. I'm assuming that the drive will take 2.5-3 hours an that should put us right in on time. We can adjust the route if needed at halfway. Thanks again go to Jason for route planning.

I'll have some inventory with me, so stickers and badges will be available. See everyone at the Charlotte Ferry dock!

Cheers, Thompson

Currently sitting on my couch and feeling unwell. So much for today's drive. Ugh. Hope you kids had fun out there. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be feeling better before my game later tonight...

Nice pics, Jason. Shame about the Cayenne though

For the record, I did suck it up and go play my game tonight (IBM league). IBM league games are longer than a standard game, 85 minutes of clock time (10 minute warm up, three 25 minute periods). We won, 5-2, and my team all congratulated me for keeping them in the game, I played really well. They would have thanked me even more if they knew that there were three separate points in the game where I seriously considered skating off the ice to puke (which actually would have been a fairly stereotypical goalie thing to do). If we had a back-up goalie, there's no way in hell I would have gone. Oh, I'm going to feel soooo bad tomorrow. Might call in for a sickie, spend another day drifting in and out of sleep on the couch like I did today.

But enough of all that. Looks like you kids had fun. How was dinner? Never been to Fire & Ice, I always went to Dog Team when I was down in that area (and don't even get me started about how bitter I still am about that)...

Fire and Ice was a cute restaurant. They have a nice shiny boat in there. Good food.

We had a GREAT time. Thanks again for all of you that drove up to join us. Fire and Ice Restaurant in Middlebury, VT was entertaining and a nice place to relax before driving home. Yes, the salad boat was kewl.
