I've been on the ferry before on a little day trip last year and it was fun... Maybe I could make this work... Meet in Saratoga Springs, jump on Route 9N (sweet scenic twisty road that goes through the Adirondack State Park) until you hit Port Kent, ride the ferry to Burlington, VT. Maybe have the Vermont MINI owners join us in Burlington for lunch... (maybe get some suggestions on what's the best place to eat in Burlington?) Then drive back down to NY...
Originally was setting the New York meeting place at Exit 22, but I'm not really from there and I cannot find a good location to meet people... soo I'm changing the New York meeting place to Wilton Mall in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Sunday October 1, 2006
Meeting at 10AM, leaving at 10:30AM.
Wilton Mall to View Restaurant Indian-Kettles (lunch stop)
1 hour, 9 minutes/56.19 miles
I-87 North until Exit 22 to Route 9N
View Restaurant Indian-Kettles to Essex, New York
1 hour, 3 minutes/ 43.60 miles
Route 9N to Route 22 to Essex, New York ferry
Meet Vermont MINIs around 2:30PM-3:00PM just outside the Charoltte, VT (Lake Shore Bridge). They will be giving us a Covered Bridge tour in the Burlington, Vermont area. I will post updates on the Vermont plans.
Hi Steph:
I grew up in Ticonderoga so I know the area well. Rt 9N up over tounge mountain is a gas, I drive it twice a year.
I went up to Paul SMith's this past weekend and saw 7 (yes, SEVEN) Mini's in the lakes placid area. They wern't all together so it wasn't a run, just a bunch of friendly motorists.
Don't know what my schedule looks like yet for 10/1 but I'll try to make it for the run.
If you can make the timing work, try going west on rt74 to 9 (schroon lake) and then north on 9 to the Tracy road (paved 2 years ago and really twisty!) that will dump you back onto 9N just north of Port Henry. 15 minutes to the ferry from there.
Rt 74 from Ticonderoga up thru Schroon / Paradox etc. up to the Northway (the opposite way from described above) is my standard route to Albany, I can attest that it's a nice drive!

Ok, so I'm slouching on the posts over here... I'll post more - promise. For those who arrive Jason and I will try to sport up some New England greetings Vermont style and I will provide the proper MINI Cooper rallye graphics for everyone who attends.
