Fabio, you should ask this in the local NY forum. Want me to move the thread?

The Library Hotel, near the main NY Public Library building, 5th Ave and Grand Central Station is great. The place has a Dewey decimal book theme with each room containing books on a different subject (hint erotic literature is on the 8th floor). Breakfast is included, free wine and cheese on weeknights, complimentary cookies, snacks, etc available in the Reading Room at any time. Free internet. Staff is wonderful and rooms are nice. I'm not sure if the price is reasonable, though it's in normal NYC range

If you don't need to be right in Times Square, the Hotel Martinique near Penn Station is a nice hotel, very reasonable. I think it's now a Radisson, when I went it was a Holiday Inn so I was an expert on everything It's on the edge of Koreatown....

Quote:
The Radisson Martinique Broadway is situated across from Greeley Square, less than a mile from the Empire State Building, and approximately nine miles from Laguardia Airport. Newark Liberty Airport is 12 miles away and John F. Kennedy International Airport is 17 miles from the hotel. Other local attractions include Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Penn Station, and the Jacob Javits Center. Hotel amenities include onsite spa, concierge, ATM, ice machine, gift shop, safe deposit box, shoeshine, room service, business center, and fitness center. Onsite dining is available at Cafe Martinique, offering continental fare, and Kum Gang San, which serves Korean cuisine. Most guest rooms feature the Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort. All guest rooms feature cable TV, in-room movies, coffeemakers, hairdryers, high-speed Internet access, individual climate controls, irons and ironing boards, dual-line telephones, voicemail, and work desks with lamps. Book online using the form above.

I highly recommend checking our Priceline for hotels at the best rates. They've changed their layout lately - when you first get on they show you hotels with rates listed, but if you do the Name Your Own Price option you can do considerably better. If you're going on a weekend you can usually get the best rates, since all the business travelers have left town. The only exception is Las Vegas, where rates are higher on the weekend (go figure).
Also, if your trip is that far out, you can put in a low bid on a 3 star hotel, and if you don't get a taker, you can re-submit in 72 hours and raise it $5 and try again. I've used Priceline for all my business travel hotels for four years, and I am a huge fan. If you want to ask any questions you can always PM me. (Although I'm leaving for Sin City tomorrow afternoon).

Hey Bert, you'll have to say hi to me in Sin City in a few months.

Chelsea Lodge - Official Home Page - Budget Hotel in New York City, cheap lodging/rooms and budget accommodations for budget minded travellers.

Stayed here a couple of years ago, and it was fab! Small and "bijous", located in the heart of Chelsea, and has a cosy, intimate feel to it
