Arrgh! I think that was a borderline shoulda been a penalty shot. He was ahead of him, but I guess he wasn't far enough ahead of him for it. SeaBass is looking pretty good in goal and Hasek has had some pretty spectacular saves. Ricardo was right, he has the craziest style. I'm suprised he isn't hurt more often the way he throws himself around.
Is the Curse of the Bills creeping in? The city of Buffalo has never won a championship in anything, and is most strongly identified with repeated Super Bowl chokes. In 2007, the Sabres win the President's Trophy and enter the playoffs as prohibitive favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference, yet they find themselves down 2-0 heading to Ottawa. I remain convinced that Buffalo is the better team, but they are consistently inconsistent, seemingly unable to play their game for a full 60 minutes, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them end up losing this series 4-1 or 4-2. They've been able to get by at 3/4ths speed for so long that I think they've lost track of the ability to put it up to 4/4ths for a whole game when they need to. They could play poorly and still get by the Isles and the Rangers, but not the Sens.
That being said, I have to say that game two of the Sens-Slugs series was one of the most entertaining games I've watched in ages. As much as I'd like to be still watching my Bruins at this point in the season, I know it wouldn't be anything like as entertaining to watch as the games tend to be by this point in the playoffs, they just aren't as talented or deep as they need to be. Two fast paced, talented teams playing creative, offensive-minded up-and-down hockey.
Irony, NHL style: In game one of their series, Detroit is badly out-played by Anaheim, getting out-shot by a wide margin and surrendering far more powerplays and great scoring chances, yet they come away with a win on two fluky goals. In game two, Detroit plays much better, closes the shooting gap, and becomes the first team to get three goals against Seabass, but skates away with a loss. Them's the breaks...

I still can't believe how little heart, how little gut, how little dogged persistence Buffalo is showing. They just totally collapsed tonight. Out-shot 32-15? In game three of a series where you're down 2-0? Pathetic. If not for Miller standing on his head, they would have been blown out. There's going to need to be some serious soul-searching in that locker room after the season is over...

PS re-popped my right ankle tonight. I gotta start taping it up before games, I think.

I just can't believe how much of a freight train the Sens are being. I really thought this was going to be a close series. Maybe going to 7 games but the further into the series it gets the worse the Slugs look and the better the Sens look.
Had a question to ask. Last night I was talking to my boss, mostly telling him that I was missing the hockey game so could we please leave , and he said something to me. Made me think for a while but I'm not sure it's true. Am I rare? In that I'm a hockey fan and a female. Seems strange I see all those women on the TV at the hockey games but I wonder if they're just fans because of their significant other and not the other way around (which is the case at my house).
Had an interview today at a vet's. Looks good, if I want to leave Staples. It's hard when you get entrenched in a place (even Staples) to leave purely out of monetary reasons.
I don't think women and hockey is as rare as a lot of outside observers think. Stats have shown that, like all sports, hockey has seen a significant increase in the number of female fans. I see a lot of women at the UVM hockey and VT Lake Monsters/Boston Red Sox baseball games I go to, and a lot of them aren't just being dragged there by their significant other. Granted, a lot of women are first introduced to the sport via the intersest of a boyfriend / husband / child, but the fandom is growing. Of course I have a bit of a skewed view because I come from a family where all the women are ardent sports fans regardless of the disposition of their husbands, but still, I'm seeing way more women playing recreational hockey now that I did 15 years ago...

I really am not that big a fan of any other sport, enought to watch it 3-4 times a week. I watch football but after the 2nd qtr it's like, who cares. I don't think baseball is all that exciting on the tv. It's different at the ballpark because it's an experience (like the time I was watching the O's and the Red Sox and there was a torrential downpour (people were stealing trashbags from the vendors to wear as raingear). Hockey is something that can keep my attention the whole time. Also (we already talked about this) the players seem a lot more down to earth than in some of the other sports.
same thing I did in MD, a receptioniist/tech. Part-time to start out then maybe full time. We didn't discuss pay but it's all a moot point (unless they are only willing to pay me minimum) but I guess I can have that conversation when they offer me the position. Right now I get the feel that it's mine if I want it. I worked for the vet in MD for 6 years so I have loads of experience in doing that I just don't know about leaving Staples because of the money. I work with great people and I love my job but I only work between 14-25 hours a week. Certainly not paying any great bills.
Yes it is very good. I certainly am a huge fan, we bought the whole DVD set. Costs a lot but you get a lot for it. My favorite is Black Adder the Third. Hugh Laurie as the bumbling prince is so perfect.
