I got to watch hockey tonight! Yay! NESN ran a "Bruins classic" of the Tampa/Boston game from 11/30/06. Very UVM-centric. Perrin and St Louis both scored in regulation, then Timmy started making some insane saves (including this one). The game went thru OT and on to a shootout, where Timmy stopped all seven shooters (including Perrin and St Louis), and finally One Ball Kessel won it for the Bruins with the lone shootout goal. Nice game. They even interviewed former UVM coach Mike Gilligan during the third period. Between that, Timmy coming up huge, Marty scoring, and Eric scoring, it was like watching a UVM recruiting tape. They ought to send it out to prospects to get them to commit to Vermont... -Ricardo

That's how it tends to happen, you're minding your own business, just hanging out, and stealthily, like a cat, or perhaps a non-sneezing ninja, old age creeps up and WHAM you're old. Suddenly you need less sleep and buffalo wings can do awful things to your digestive functions. It's a shame. On an entirely different note, file this under long long long long long term planning; Time to start looking forward to "College Hockey Night in Vermont 2007-8 edition". UVM has published their complete schedule, below are the home dates: October Sun 7 Acadia University 4:00pm Sun 21 Boston College 4:00pm Sun 28 Dartmouth 4:00pm November Fri 16 Boston University 7:05pm Sat 17 Boston University 7:05pm Tue 20 Massachusetts 7:05pm December Sat 1 Providence 7:05pm Sat 8 Harvard 7:05pm Sat 15 St. Lawrence 7:05pm Sat 29 Holy Cross 7:05pm Sun 30 Western Michigan or Quinnipiac TBA January Fri 18 Northeastern 7:05pm Sat 19 Northeastern 7:05pm February Fri 1 New Hampshire 7:05pm Sun 3 UMass-Lowell 2:00pm Fri 15 Merrimack 7:05pm Sat 16 Merrimack 7:05pm Fri 29 Maine 7:05pm March Sat 1 Maine 7:05pm Boiling it down to just the Saturday games (the most likely candidates): November Sat 17 Boston University 7:05pm December Sat 1 Providence 7:05pm Sat 8 Harvard 7:05pm Sat 15 St. Lawrence 7:05pm Sat 29 Holy Cross 7:05pm January Sat 19 Northeastern 7:05pm February Sat 16 Merrimack 7:05pm March Sat 1 Maine 7:05pm So there you go, something to ruminate on for the summer... -Ricardo

It should be an interesting year. Our top scorer (Torrey Mitchell) decided to skip his senior year and signed with the San Jose Sharks, but I gather that the coaching staff at Vermont knew/expected this and recruited accordingly, we've got a good group of eight guys coming with this year's freshman class. There's a trio of 6'2" defensemen, a couple big bangers up front, and a couple crafty forwards as well. The two most intersting ones are Kyle Medvec, a 6'6" defenseman who was drafted by the Minnesota Wild last year, and a highly recruited Kahnawake Mohawk with the awesome name "Wahsontiio Stacey". Apparently his final three choices were Maine, Colorado College, and Vermont. He chose little old us. According to his bio, Wahsontiio is a Mohawk name meaning "beautiful night". Should be an interesting year. Mitchell was really the only "key" player off of last year's squad that we won't have back, so the team is shaping up to be pretty good. Only 117 days until the first game! -Ricardo
