Arctic MINI Run 2007 - Poll

To help chose among possible itineraries, please vote on how many days the Arctic MINI Run III should be.

As before, we'll work this trip into the President's Day weekend of Feb. 17-19, 2007. The minimum trip length would probably be 3 days.

I staging night as far north as Calais / Rouses Point , one recovery night as far south as Amos or Monton, and at least one night on the tundra.

I voted for don't care; I'll go anyways.

I'm flexible - however many days is fine, so long as I know in advance to schedule the time off from the sweat shop.

I opted for the 4 days option, but it may be a moot point if I get the new job. There may be a break-in period where I won't be allowed to take vacation time.

If your still in the interview process, tell them that you're already committed - to a 10 day journey to the north.

I care and I voted . . .

The 4 day / 3 night option is what I voted for but am willing to do 5 days / 4 nights, just not more that 5 days.

The three night option makes for a very long first day on the official schedule,
so most people will get a 4 (MA) , 6 (NYC), 8 (PA) or 14 (GA) hour head start,
and have a social event on night zero.

Potential Trip Lengths

I have re-posted the 2006 potential trips list on arcticmini.com.

For easy reference, I'm listing the trip lengths below, in days from NYC area (subtract 0.5 or 1.0 to get nights, where 0.5 indicates starting in an afternoon/evening). :

JBR 2005: 5.5 (included activity day)
Newfoundland 2006: 5.5 or 6.5 (included planned activity day)

Note: the following potential trip lengths are minimums and do NOT include the optional 'activity day' unless otherwise noted.

Trans-Taiga: 7.0

Labrador/TLH - depends upon turn-around point:
a) Lab City: 4.0
b) Churchill Falls: 5.0
b) Happy Valley-Goose Bay: 6.0

North Shore: 4.0

Newfoundland:
Viking Trail: 5.5
Trans-Canada / St. John's : 5.5

Gaspe Peninsula Loop: 3.5 or 4.0

Maritimes Tour: 5.0

Moosonee / Hudson Bay via Polar Bear Express: 4.5 (includes activity day)

Big Trout Lake: 8.0

Churchill / Hudson Bay Winter Roads: 10 to 12

I voted for short but, then again, I still think Santa's village a viable option. For some of us, a long trip = a major bite in vacation time. I hope that when a route poll is established, pity on me will be taken and Campobello - Eastport -way downeast ME will be included. For the Canucks, Campobello is in NB. For the Yanks, that means the joys of customs again.

Campobello is nice, ....in May.
I don't care where, but it needs to be a 4 day weekend for me and the wife.
Malpeque oysters from PEI would be nice, but it isn't very far north.
