This just in........

BABE2007 Day 2 Challenge: Costume Day

1:20 pm (3 hours ago)

Time to rattle and hum!

In case you haven't seen a calendar lately, we are less than one month away
from BABE2007.

The Rally Handbook will be published later in the week and will be available
in your Team Admin area. A login/password blast will go out to remind
everyone of those details so that you may download a copy of your handbook
at that time.

Meanwhile, here is something that just won't wait!

As you know, BABE is the first ever American version of the infamous
StreetSafari European Banger Rally. Last year we played it safe -- probably
too safe -- and shielded teams from the true mayhem of StreetSafari events.
This year you are not so lucky!

One of last year's participants said (and was captured on camera, no less!)
that she was a bit disappointed that she wasn't made to "run around more"
and do crazy things. So we guess you can thank her (or blame her, as the
case may be) for helping us to see the light and decide that you are
definitely ready for the real thing.

And here it is.....

Each year, we select a character or theme for a "fancy dress" day ("costume
day" for the Yanks among us). This year Europe will see an invasion of
pirates and men in schoolgirl uniforms. Not to be outdone, American will
see....... >>>drum roll<<<......... Elvis.

That's right, boys and girls. How much more American can you get? Each and
every member of your team gets to be Elvis-For-A-Day.

Here's how it works:

Pick your favorite Elvis (remember the postage stamp vote several years
back?) and assemble your costume. Is Viva-Las-Vegas-Elvis your style? Or
are you more of a Love-Me-Tender-Leather-Jacket-Elvis type?

Show up at the Day 2 Start Line in Harrisonburg ready to spend your day as
The King!

While you're at it, you might want to put your heads together as a team and
decide which Elvis song is your favorite and (hint hint) learn a chorus or
two. Remember, there are points involved in daily challenges!!

'Nuff said.

So it's the King-of-Bling older Elvis, the Lemme-Be-Your-Teddy-Bear younger
Elvis, or any Elvis in between, the choice is yours. Team members do not
need to choose the same Elvis era, by the way.

Have fun getting your act together, so to speak, and we'll see you and your
pompadours in Harrisonburg!

thankya...thankyaverymuch

Regards,
Karin Ransdell
Justin Clements
& The StreetSafari Team

Well, I hope not to see pics of that, but my favorite Elvis song is "(You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care"

Hey Steve, let me know if you need a little spare grease from the Vegginator for hair-slicking purposes.

OK! My team oozes personality and yours oozes grease. If we are short in the brilliantine dept. we'll head over to the break down lane and get some off the vaggitator.

Ha! Don't be surprised! Speaking of the Lucky Shakedown. HC MINI is giving us about 50 t-shirts and Libby is doing up a Lucky design stencil to spray paint on them too. HC MINI is also giving us a mess 'o swag to give away/raffle/door prize at the party
Lucky has had a robin flitting around him for about two weeks. I think it has fallen in love with the ducks. It stayed there virtually all daylight hours for two weeks. Roof and left side rain gutters and windows started to look like bat guano build up. Had to move Lucky to make the robin go away. Hoped for a nest in the bull horn but no luck. Lucky wouldn't start this weekend. Trickle charger did the trick. Wiped down paint with straight ammonia to clean massive amounts of bird poop and to de-gloss the paint. Then took 80 grit to paint and roughed her up a bit, 80 grit to bottom of 30 or so duckies and attached them. Another couple of days and I'll have a marathon duck sticking session. Oh yeah, was having a drink while sanding Lucky's paint so I "wet sanded" using vodka as the wet.

And lastly , now toying with the idea of driving Lucky back instead of flying. Joe is up for it and we both can take the rest of the week off so.................

Hey Steve, we're driving the Vegginator back too. Actually, my daughter is flying down to join me for the drive back -- my teammates have to get back to real life. Losers.

We're looking at out of N.O. on Memorial day. Still deciding about up the coast or back the way we went. May depend on fuel sources.

From the OGMC Seat of Power......

What's this I hear about veggie cars and back taxes?

It hurts like hell to read this thread. I'll regret not going for the 3 days that are the rest of my life.
