Jason ... packages were sent out partly yesterday and partly today. You're location might be two days from Essex, while Becca is apparently only one day - yours will come, I'm sure

Two things I haven't seen mentioned here or in the packet:
- Pet registration. I finally have a pet to bring, is there no more organized pet registration?
- Beer swap. Just because we won't have calzones to compliment it?? What is the plan for trivia night? I know last year T&C had a little issue with the BYOB because we didn't clear it ahead of time..has that been officially ironed out?
Great job on the packets this year. They seem noticeably more organized. Extra points for putting the easily lost tickets etc in a smaller (and resealable) envelope.
Pets - see BethAndLouis.
Officially, the auto road doesn't want us to bring pets.
Unofficially, if owners keep their pets well behaved and "tidy", the auto road will live with a small number of animals in return for our patronage.
Beth / Louis are again assembling pet goodie bags, to be purchased from them on the day (first come, first served)
Beer Swap - no.
Officially, purchase your drinks at the T&C, don't bring them in.
Thanks for the packet compliments. We tried to learn any errors from last year. The smaller envelope was actually only a stop gap, because packing wasn't at my office this year - but you make a good point that we should do that in future years too.

We didn't have organised pet registration because it's hard to enjoy the time at MOT when we were chasing people around with pet goodie bags. We also had lots of people ask to purchase them the day of (we only made enough packets to satisfy the registered pets). We will have pet goodie bags available at the Loon lot for purchase (just see Louis and I at the Photo Scavenger Hunt tent) for the mere price of $10 a bag (of which $3 of every bag purchased will be donated to Rosie's Place). There will be 24 made so come early to get one. Lots of goodies in there!
We will also have available at the Loon Lot homemade brownies and carob chip cookies for the pooches! (gratis).
The Auto Road will have some bathroom stops set up at the Auto Road but are prohibiting pets from being under the tent during the tent festivities. Please do not bring your pets under the tent during the festivities we want to continue to allow our four legged friends to spend time with us in the White Mountains.
Last year is when we found out that the Auto Road doesn't allow pets at the base during functions. We found out after we had sent the pet registration. The number of pets has grown from 3 the first year to (we had over 30 registrations last year). Louis and I brought Sherman and Newton last year but took them to the hotel after the morning activities (before the auto road) they were both a handful.
There's not a good answer with this one because I certainly don't condone locking dogs in a hot car but we have to abide by the rules that the Auto Road has set for us, we don't want to jeopardize having the event. Understand that these rules were not instituted because of us, these were in place before we came we just weren't aware of it.
Beth describes the situation accurately Josh.
Historically, it seems no-one mentioned pets with the auto road, we were ignorant and some pets showed up. But in 2006, the subject was discussed - officially pets are not allowed on the auto road fields, since other events during the summer have children playing on those same fields, etc, etc. It's not a food issue but a field issue ... although if someones pet was on the table where I ate dinner, I'd be unhappy [of course I realize no-one would do such a thing!]
So, for MOT2006, the auto road UNOFFICIALLY allowed the pets we had coming. If the pets caused trouble then it would be no pets for future years - but the pets (and their owners!) behaved.
So this year, again unofficially, we are not banning pets.
On the other hand, we're not welcoming pets - a small number is easier to control, hence Beth & Louis decision last year to return their dogs to the hotel.
Your little guy Josh is unlikely to cause hassle. If he behaves well in your care, I see no issues. But that's my UNOFFICIAL opinion
PS:
We don't have more tables than are under the tent.

I'm just trying to clear things up ahead of time, the last thing I want to do is have to leave it locked up in the bathroom of the hotel room for saturday evening, which is what all the "official" responses seem to point to.
If you have already registered as a MOT Photographer, or if you would like to, please see the latest posting to the MOT 2007 Photographers thread. The deadline has been established and the process for submission identified.

Respect the auto road and they will respect you, that's all I'm saying Josh. Be sure to avoid leaving "dog trails" around, and the auto road folks will be happy with us.
