Right. And I woke up this morning remembering that I won't have back seats. I have a bunch of stuff to bring to MOT and the plan is to remove back seats to make it fit. Anyway, I know you won't have any problem finding a seat as you already have an offer!
Just remember to see me either Friday night or Sat. a.m. for the ticket.

Check out the website, although we've never been there ourselves, we hear the roads are wonderfull for MINIs and the castle is beautiful.
You'll need to bring lunch, however there is a place there to pick up some food, and we'll work in a stop to pick up lunch on the way.

Let us know if you're interested, everyone is welcome.

+1 !

Castle in the Clouds is a excellent alternative; offers a commanding view of Lake Winnepesaukee and the surrounding hills! A spiriting drive up the access road is an added bonus

Dark Silver Castle in the Clouds

Castle in the Clouds is a good take, I have been there three times in my lifetime. A long time ago I went there as a kid and the tour was more informative than it is currently. Intriguing facts like the roof tiles were a dollar each, when you look at the roof you won't be saying a dollar each so what. The house is still impressive today at or near 80 yrs. old.

fyi #1 -- if you take the direct route, Castle in the Clouds is about 55 miles from Lincoln, then it's about 55 more to the Auto Road.

fyi #2 -- Speed traps are to be expected around Meredith & Moultonborough. Careful out there.

There is no good reason to trap someone who is driving in a reasonable and prudent manner.

the Castle sounds like a nice alternative to the runs we usually do.
we'd love to join you if you don't mind us tagging along.
We'll be a little tired from the 3:45 trip up Cadillac but it will be nice to see the Castle.

Motorcycle Safety Reminder

A reminder that it is Bike Week and motorcycles will be everywhere in New Hampshire this week.

Sadly that means many crotch rockets as well. Last night on the mass pike just east of the weston tolls there was an accident, with a sport bike lodged still upright under a pickup truck's front bumper. Soonafter the remainder of the pack was parked on the side.

Remember to double-check your blind spots for nearly invisible motorcycles. Though many bikers are extremely courteous as MINI drivers are when we drive in packs, there are always a few out there causing trouble. Be prepared as you WILL see plenty of them as well.

Thanks, Jeff for posting this in the MaxaMini thread. For those who did not have the pleasure of meeting Ed (and are reminded of him with every rubber duck) read this and get a feel for what MoT is all about and, maybe, a bit of the legacy of Ed.

From Jeff -

A post by Ed 10 days before MOT ' 05 and I thought it so sums up his outlook he so happily shared with us all :

"
...the weekend will be what it is. MINIs On Top will define itself. It is like a river overflowing it's banks. It cannot be contained. Go with the flow. Don't dip your toe. Full immersion is the way. In the end you will find it less about the cars than the people who inhabit them.

I await the weekend with the unbridled enthusiasm of a six year old hearing the faint sound of distant bells as the Ice Cream Man approaches his street from blocks away. It's coming. It's coming. I hear them. Listen. Hear it? I told you. Woohoo.

The orchestra begins to assemble. Instruments are drawn from their cases. Violins drawn to chins and bows begin to slide across strings. Each member as yet unaware of the other as they continue to tune their individual instruments but soon the house lights will dim and the Great Cod will rise from the pit and behold MINIs On Top shall fill the great mountain valleys and the sweet music of 208 motors and Motorers shall rise to the heavens and it will be said of the Grand Cod.. It is a good.
Peace, Sunshine, and Goodwill be yours. Can I get an Amen?..."

Amen Ed

Amen!
I'm getting giddy!

With apologies to Lou Bega (who should apologize to us for subjecting us to "Mambo #5" in the first place):

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is MOT Number 5

One, two, three, four, five
Everybody in their cars lets go for a ride
to the Auto Road to round its corners.
The boys say they want sunset views
But the mountain sez it don’t take orders
Downbursts like it had last week
I might just creep because fog is deep

I like Angela, Pamela, Carol and Sheena
And as I continue you know they are getting sweeter
So what can I do I really beg you my Lord
To me motoring is a sport and keeps MoT alive
It's all good let me dump it
Please drive and don’t bump it.

Chorus:
A little bit of MINI2 in my life
A little bit of Ian by our side
A little bit of Ivan is all we need
A little bit of Richard is what I see
A little bit of Theo in the sun
A little bit of Harvey all night long
A little bit of M2 - here I am
A little bit of Beth makes us a plan

Shift up and down and drive it all around
Shake your head to the sound
Put your foot to the ground
Take one turn left and one turn right
Zip to the front and swing to the side
Honk your horn once and honk your horn twice
And if you smile like this then you are doing it right

Chorus:

I do all to fall in love with a car like you
You can run and you can slide
You and me gonna touch the sky

Chorus:
