Thank you John for making laugh and smile! I do alot of lauging and crying right now but this will get better.
Everyone please keep giving me word of encouragement through the thread because it does help. I let Pat know everyuone how is writting and letting him know what's going on around him.
Thanks for checking in, Angela. One thing I've always told my patient's families is that I think it can be harder to watch a loved one go through illness or injury than it is to go through it yourself. It sounds like things are going pretty well under the circumstances. One suggestion for what people could do to help, if you have friends who are close by & willing, is to bring or send food to the nurses. They're going to need to keep their strength up with Pat as a patient!
As I was packing last night, I found my yo-yo. At the second MAW dinner, I promised Pat I'd show him some tricks next time we got together. Tell him to hurry up and get better so I can visit. I'll do my best not to inadvertently clock him in the head (or I can aim for it if you'd prefer ) Stay strong, mom!
Glad to hear pat is stable. I'm sure there will be complaints throughout the hospital in no time from those who can hear him from every corner. Perhaps he could use a little salty chocolate?
I'm sure we've met at one of the MOTs or any of the other gatherings. Monica and I wish you both well and hope Pat has a speedy and complete recovery.
Our positive thoughts and prayers are with Pat ,and I'll be driving with him in spirit as I head up to Labrador this weekend. As you said in your first post: This is a community about friends first, and a car second. Don't hesitate to lean on your friends for a helping hand.
Angie, So here I am with my second bout of intestinal flu in a month and feeling pretty goddam sorry for myself , and then I realize how good I got it. As a reality check for you and Pat, I had a C7 disc explode in 1987 with resulting laminectomy (removal) . I was faced with some pretty grim prognoses from the surgeon, but here I am ok 20 years later (although I am sure there are many who might find exception to that ) . At this point you must put your faith in the medical communuty and the fact that Pat has more "will to heal" than anyone I've ever known. Tell him as soon as he's up to it I'll bring him a meatlover's pizza and I won't pick at it , he'll know what I'm talking about. Hang in there kid and know that there's a whole bunch of people on here that are sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for the word that you need ANYTHING. Now I think I'll have some tea and saltines and count my blessings. Jock
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this trying time. I'm sure I had the pleasure of meeting Pat at MoT last year when we "attempted" to follow the Rhode Island MINIs - as I said attempted.....

Please let us all know when the time is right for us to visit you two.
Thinking this through a little deeper, you may want to "stage" the visits so the medical staff retains some semblance of sanity. No...wait...this could get exciting! How about everyone that visits Pat has to wear a fake goatee?
Oh well, let us know...
