Finally uploaded the pics. Most are from the parade lap. I took some great shots with Armen's Canon though! I should really save up and buy a dSLR for myself...

This event was absolutely awesome! I had a great time, and was completely humbled by the skills that the instructors presented to us. I can only aspire to drive like them one day...

Seriously, I realized all the bad habits that I have, and how much effort I'm going to put in to become a better driver. Last night, on an on-ramp, I actually attempted to steer the MINI with only the throttle and it worked like a charm!

Anyway, thanks to everyone who put this together!

Best not to do too much of that on the streets - on ramp barriers are less forgiving than cones!

All kidding aside, we don't have wet skid pads further dampened by rain to practice on. Those on/off ramps can be a good place to practice what you've learned. No need to exceed prudent speed limits to continue refining those new-found skills!

Return to Hudson Bay 2010 (and 2011) . . . not

Thanks for the encouragement Pete!

... they're less forgiving only if you hit them.

Since most speed limits have nothing to do with safety, I'm sure what Pete meant to say was "No need to exceed prudent speeds to continue refining those new-found skills! "

Who needs more?

There's another ADSS on Saturday, August 18 (I'll be there) if you want more of the same.

If you want more - more speed, more seat time, more fun(?), there's an HPDE day on the big track at NHIS on Thursday, August 23. I'll be there too. The MINIs only event we did covers the pre-requisites for the HPDE event. You'll need a helmet, and a signed tech form (and brake fluid change if you didn't do that already, etc, etc).

Bueller?

I'll also be at the BMWCCA HPDE August 23. I see that Peter B. is signed up for that one too.
That makes at least three MINIs so far.....

Ivan, do you prefer SCDA over BMWCCA for some reason?

No, not really. I've done my ADSS with BMWCCA and when I signed up for HPDE with SCDA, I didn't know about the BMWCCA day...
