I guess I should put writing that email up on the top of my to-do list for tomorrow. Hopefully the ball will begin rolling, and the trips to Loudon this weekend and next will offer opportunities to shake some hands and see what's what.
I'f they're securely mounted, they can stay in. You just need to make sure there's nothing loose inside the car.
No..you shouldn't have to remove anything that won't really fly around on you (your coffee, perhaps). It's not like an autocross where you have to take out everything down to your floor mats. Then again, weight savings is weight savings.
Remember: The ADSS is the same thing that many of you have already done at the MOP events behind the BMW service center, with the addition of a skid pad and a little more concentrated instruction. And pizza.
The ADSS I had signed up for which was scheduled for this Friday has been cancelled because of the snow... so I'm having my entry fee from that applied to the MINI only one. So, I'll be there spinning around in circles.
For newbies to this kind of thing, I just wrote a post on my new-ish blog (don't roll your eyes!) where I go through what's in my "track box". Some of this will be overkill for a skills school, but some of it might still come in handy. You're not going to have to worry about rotating tires and bleeding brakes for this event, for instance.
He sent us all a PM about it. He discontinued the MINI2 blogs (which I guess can be credited to getting me hooked and later starting my own) and then moved them over to that slightly independent site. I don't know if there was more sinister reasoning behind it.
Jason, I have a big green bin that I keep all my autocross stuff just like you list. Two large jugs of water that I refill, and some gronola bars/snacks in there two. Note it hasn't been opened in a year and a half, but that stuff is all still in there. I guess it doubles as an emergency basement bomb shelter kit too. (especially the helmet!)
Indeed those track boxes do double as "alternative shelter" -- checking on my own this morning it appears a field mouse took up residence at some point this winter.....the granola bars must have been especially attractive !!
Does anyone have recommendations/suggestions for helmet brand/type? I need to pick one up before this event, and I'd like to get one that I can use for the next couple of years at least (unless my head size changes :O )
