Comfortable / correctly sized is the first key for a helmet.

Lots of people go with g-force because they're not crap, but they're still cheap.

HMS Motorsports in Peabody usually has a good assortment of helmets to try on.

Bear in mind that helmets are NOT required for the driving skills school. (They are required for "track days," however.)

You're welcome to wear one if you'd like but keep in mind that the instructor won't be wearing a helmet, making communication during the wet skid pad session more difficult.

Great News ! ! !

So far, there are 22 MINIs signed up for the first ever MINIs Only ADSS!

This is shaping up as an exceptional event ~ outstanding instructors, great friends and a wonderful learning experience.

The school is hosted by enthusiasts of the BMW CCA White Mountain Chapter. MINI of Peabody and Concord Motorsports are sponsoring lunch and an "after the school" snacks/drinks, too.

So, if you haven't signed up yet, go to: MotorsportReg.com : Register > Adv Driving Safety Skills School for Minis

If you have signed up, invite a friend or family member to join you. The more MINIs, the merrier.

It was great to see some of the folks who are taking the ADSS at MOT this past weekend.

Can't believe the school is just a month away!

There are still some spaces open, so don't hesitate to sign up. You won't regret it!

Why does this have to be located so far away (~7 hrs)? Better yet, why don't we have something like this out here? Just to make things worse, the president of the local BMWCCA no longer owns a 'real' BMW and is an enthusiastic MINI owner.

From this page:

WMC - ADSS School Requirements

Quote:
Your Vehicle

Should have a qualified mechanic perform a technical inspection (preferably within three weeks prior to the event) and fill out this Tech Inspection Form.

Note the should. If there's some part of your MINI that you are in doubt about, get it looked at. If you have absolutely no idea about the condition of your car, get it checked out. A quick tech inspection should be around $50. If you know the state of your car, and that state is that everything is in good working order, don't sweat it.

For the ADSS events, the tech inspection is a "should". For track / HPDE events, the tech inspection is a "must". And I didn't tell you this, but for the HPDE events, many people tech their own cars.

I have track inspection forms here, and an inspection is 50.00

If your cars only a few years old, and still within maintenance / warranty at the dealership, and you've taken it there when needed, there won't be an inspection issue.

I'm guessing only if your car looked like it was falling apart, they might ask for a signed inspection form!
