| Resident Panpsychist | Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan to MOT 2007 Well, with two months to go before MOT 2007, it's time to sign up for the Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan to MOT 2007 on Friday, June 15th 2007. Please sign up by posting to this thread with your alias, the number of passengers in your MINI/Mini, and your desired meeting point (YC or A51). Please note that there will be four different mapped routes from Area 51 to Gorham this year! Go to the brand-spankin' new Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan website for more information on these four A51 to Gorham routes. You will find the website has many other valuable details about the caravan. I will update the first page of this thread with peoples' information as they post their interest. Basic Information: This year we are again inviting all Minis and MINIs to join the Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan on Friday, June 15th, 2007 to MINIs on Top in New Hampshire. There are two meeting points at which people can join the caravan: Yankee Candle in South Deerfield, MA and Area 51 located about 15 miles north of Concord, NH. The Yankee Candle Factory Flagship Store is located just off Exit 24 of Interstate 91 North in Western Massachusetts, and offers plenty of shopping, socializing and dining options. It is about 4 hours from New York City, about 1 hour from Hartford, CT and about 30 minutes from the intersection of the Massachusetts Turnpike (Exit 4) and Interstate 91 North. The YC location is a logical meeting point for MOT attendees coming from western MA, western CT, NY, NJ, and all other locations in the mid-atlantic, southeast and midwest areas of the US. The caravan will leave Yankee Candle at 11:00 am. Area 51 is a rest area at about Mile 51 on I-93, 15 miles north of Concord, NH. It is about 1 hour, 15 minutes from Boston (MA), 2 hours, 10 minutes from Providence (RI) and 1 hour, 40 minutes from Worcester (MA).There you will find plenty of parking, grassy picnic areas, vending machines, and restrooms. This is an excellent meeting point for MOT attendees coming from central and eastern MA, RI, and eastern CT. The caravan will leave Area 51 at 2:00 pm. We will travel the beautiful back-roads of MA and NH to Area 51. Once we have all arrived at Area 51, you will have your choice of four different routes to be taken to Gorham. The merged caravan at A51 will divide into four sub-caravans; one for each route. Travel time from A51 to Gorham will vary by route, and will range from approximately 2 hours for the Direct Route, to 3.5+ hours for the Polar Caves Route. Please go to the Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan website for descriptions, maps, and driving directions for each of the four routes. Detailed Information: There is a new YC & A51 Caravan website for 2007. It contains detailed information for both meeting points. You will also find complete route mapping and detailed driving directions which can be downloaded and brought along to the events. Also, late-breaking event updates will be posted on the website's News page. Click the link below to go to the new website: Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan website Please post your questions about the Yankee Candle & Area 51 Caravan to this topic and I will answer them as soon as possible. Please note: There are two mini-caravans that are being organized to transport folks from regional meeting points to Yankee Candle and to Area 51. Please sign-up for these "feeder" mini-caravans in their respective threads: Boston Area to Area 51 on Friday, June 15th Western New York to Yankee Candle on Thursday, June 14th Folks Signed-up for the YC/A51 Caravan: Below are the aliases, and number of people (organized by meeting point) showing those folks who have signed up. | Dead Man's Curve? Feh. | There have been a few postings from owners who expressed interest on joining the Western NY feeder caravan. Could those who are planning on joining please either post here or send me a PM so we can begin to make an accurate list. To date we have 7 potential participants: Pamlico Yellowmininy Yellowmininy's friend from Wyoming (??!) 1der (jumping in around Utica) Gegalle Venno (joining around Syracuse) RogueCooper Since we're a relatively small group this will be somewhat informal, but we'll be meeting around 10:15 / 10:30 AM in the parking lot of the Bushnell's Basin shopping area. Plan to leave at 11 AM for an approximate 5 hr drive to the Yankee Candle area. This will give us time to check into hotels and generally decompress a bit before joining up (if interested) for the dinner Theo is organizing. |

Offline | I will meet up with folks at Area 51 - unless someone has a better idea for someone like myself who would be coming from the NH seacoast. I will be solo in my MCSCW. I would like to take the most backroads corner carving-oriented route possible from Area 51 to Gorham. Grant 2005 MCSCW H&R Springs, 19mm rear sway bar, Bilsteins, 17" Falkens on Fliks. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Here we go again! As in the past, a group from the Cape Cod MINIs will be joining the group at Area 51. As of right now, we have 6 or 7 MINIs that will be leaving the Sagamore commuter parking lot (on the Mainland side of the Cape Cod Canal) by 10:30AM on Friday June 15th. We'll keep ya'll posted on our individual selected routes to the T&C. Less than 2 months to MOT2007!!! ![]() StarMINI [font=Comic Sans MS][color=Purple] |

| Resident Panpsychist | Just a quick post to welcome all those folks who have signed-up for this event! It is great to see some new names as well as those met in years past. We have four different route choices for the leg between Area 51 and Gorham; something for everybody. If you haven't already done so, stop by the YC & A51 website and go to the "to gorham" page to review the routes, examine the maps, and read the driving instructions. On a final note, I thought about finding something that would uniquely identify those of us who have participated in the YC/A51 Caravan. I happened upon a site that can make custom euro-oval magnetic signs. They measure 6" x 4" in size. You may recognize the design: ![]() They cost about $3.90 each in a lot of 50...which is a fairly substantial investment. However, if enough people were to express interest, I might be tempted to order some. I'd want to cover my cost on each, with any additional money going to Rosie's Place. Interested? Offline | coming from the NH seacoast Nancy and myslef will also meet up with folks at Area 51. We were thinking the same thing, we'd be interested in meeting somewhere to make a mini MINI caravan to area 51 from the seacoast. |
