Offline | Thinking about getting rid of my subaru for a non-cooper mini. I'm very much new to the mini scene, would be looking into the Premium, Sport, and Luxury package in either BRG or the darker of the blues. I'll be taking my time reading up in the tech forums on here, but all in all is the mini a good car for new england? I assume tossing a set of snows on it will make it road worthy come Winter etc. Any dealer preferences? Right now Hartford is closer, but Peabody and Norwood are also within reach. Also what's the build time roughly right now about 2 months? What are people experiences trading cars in while waiting for your mini to be built etc. Thanks! - Jer |

| Trained Monkey | Can't advise on the locality, but the MINI is right for just about any location. Just wanted to say "Hello", and welcome to MINI2. Sure the New England lot will track you down soon enough and harass you into MINI ownership quite effectively. ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | Ya, thanks for the welcome ![]() I'm moving out of subaru's as to try to enjoy driving a car again instead of building one, although with a little reading I'm not sure how long I'd be able to hold off with that either :P |

Offline | Same here......I happened to pass a BMW Dealership a few days after they'd launched the Mini. Out of interest I took one for a test drive and the rest is history. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | A. I agree, drive one... B. Get dedicated snow tires for it, and you won't miss your Subaru -- the MINI does very well on slick roads and up to 5" or so of snow. C. Drive one ![]() |

Offline | The only downside that I have found on the mini so far is service, I need to see if there is another service place in central mass, other then that the closest dealer for service is close to an hour away (in boston traffic no less) Hopefully I'll be making the descion in the next month or so, I did take a long look at a 4 door GTi as well today, but I'm liking the gas milage on the mini, just not the wait time to get one how I want ... but I know it's worth the wait, so we'll see! |

Offline | Have you actually test drove the MINI yet? Stick or Auto, what did you think? Its not the glossy spec sheet that seals the deal. Its the drive and handling! |

| MINI2 Master | Welcome! Absolutely go for a test drive, preferably up at peabody so you can actually drive it. It should sell itself. If you want a feel for the community, stop by at any of our many events and we'll be happy to introduce you! Have a look at CapeCodMINI...he sold his MINI and got an STi....only to come crawling back to a new MINI! Built time is about 6 weeks, but some variables can make that plus or minus. And before you complain about driving an hour or so to a dealer...look at the many from VT, NH, ME who happily drive all the way down here. ![]() Or perhaps let us know exactly where you are and maybe you can get a personal tour from someone nearby. It is spectacular in the snow with good snow tires. |

Offline | I'd be getting the 6 speed, 6 weeks build time isn't bad ...... I've driven a 04 non turbo, and loved the handling, it does sell itself for sure, I need to get behind the wheel of a new -S- though |
