Gavin and I will be having a detailing day at his house next Saturday, June 30. Rain date sunday the 1st. Meet at his house around noon.

Gavin's house "Bouldercroft" is on Rt. 4 in Bedford MA...I'll have to get the exact address from him.
You are encouraged to bring food to cook on a grill and sides if you would like to eat. We may make a drive over to Bedford Farms Ice Cream afterwards.

I will be demonstrating the proper ways to wash, polish, wax, and detail the MINI as well as have available all of my detailing products for you to see. Since it would take me 6-8 hrs to actually do an entire car, I will probably just do a bonnett. The idea is for you to learn the "OCD" techniques and choose what to use yourself. On the flipside I can also demonstrate how to quickly wash the mini--see if I can do it in under 10 minutes!

I'll also try to answer any question you can throw at me, and go over things like trim, interior, and all the little details that have specific products.

If you have your own products please bring them along especially if you'd like to compare them to others. If you'd like to know ahead of time what I use most are listed on my car care page, though I've got plenty more on the shelf.

The idea is to come away with a bit more knowledge and technique to better take care of your MINI. I'll be covering both the "crazy" ever-detail steps as well as those who would rather be quick.

Gavin estimates about 12 MINIs can fit in his driveway, and parking on Rt. 4 is not a good idea, so it will be limted to that...let me know here and I'll keep a list of those attending. Sorry for the short notice--Gavin and I have been trying to plan this since the fall and have both had tough schedules to find a free saturday.

I would post a Google maps link, but the last time I did that it all looked fine until you clicked on 'Get Directions' and then it magically teleported you to somewhere way south of Boston..! Just ask Mike Smith..! Anyway, we're near 128 & Rt 3, on the north side of Bedford. If you type your address and mine into Yahoo or Google maps it should work.

Personally, I want to find a product that will make my external black trim look good again - and by good I mean good for more than 24 hours after I apply it...

Hi Dan, Welcome, and Congrats on the new MINI! It is absolutely open to anyone, as are all the mini events. Or at least anyone cool enough to have a new mini.

My specific plea is for advice how to deal with a JB/JB car. The thing looks like H E double hockey sticks about 10 minutes after washing.

On the plus side, I do seem to have the black plastic trim issue knocked out cold.

I'm not sure how long--that depends on how slowly we want to relax and enjoy BBQ and how many questions I get. Of course you can leave whenever you want.
