So I just got back from a track day at NHIS with the SCDA. I drove a racing Miata (full cage, 5-point seat belts, etc see below - talking about claustrophobic...) There were some pretty fancy cars there, a Ferrari, a Mercedes AMG, bunch of Lotuses (Loti?), Corvettes, same Daytona experiment with mid-mount rotary engine etc. But there were also two MINIs and both did very well.

This is what I think you should bring: A chair, sunscreen, a hat and a plastic storage box for your E-ZPass, camera, cell phone, hat and sunscreen, glasses etc.

Now the bad news: at the end of the day, you will probably need new brake pads and tires...

85-90 drivers is the usual maximum at NHIS. That permits 4 run groups, each allotted 4 runs of about 25 minutes.

That leaves about 20 cars per group, again ideal IMO. More cars than that and it gets too crowded with too main "trains". With only 10-12 cars per group it gets too lonely out there, and starts to feel like the Trans-Lab in February sometimes!

Nah. There's always going to be the one guy in the supercar holding up EVERYONE ELSE.

New pads & tires? Really?

I'm running with Yoko ES100's with about 4/32nds of tread and brand new JCW pads/rotors. Does this spell trouble?

No, not really.

No trouble. Tires don't get happy until they're at 4/32nds. I was getting a full season (a dozen track days) out of a set of tires and brake pads. You're fine. Ivan is exaggerating. Heck, he didn't even drive a MINI out there.

Everybody almost ready?

I was going to post something about trying to save some adjacent garage spots, but with the MINIs you can stack two of them in one spot, so it's probably not that big a deal.

I'm looking forward to getting back on the track at NHIS with a car that isn't grumpy. The only time I've been there this year was with bad front control arm bushings that led to a spin in the morning and me driving conservatively the rest of the day.

Lately, the Cooper has been handling great, so I'm ready to charge.

Garage spots? Cool!

Now, If I can only get my old G-Analyst hooked-up in time...

Does anyone have a old wiring diagram for these?

If you're ready to "charge" you should come down and visit me at work

I washed the car yesterday. I'm going to pack it up after work today and drive down to Loudon this evening. Anybody else headed to the area this evening?

Who else wishes today would go by faster?

The Red Roof Inn in Loudon. I might not be getting in until 8:30-9:00 though. But, if an offer wre made to grab dinner somewhere at an earlier time, that would be a good excuse to leave work a little early today.
