DIY ** PULLEY PARTY 2 ** 9/22/07 - Amherst, NH

Last year we had around 30 MINI's in attendance [CLICK FOR PIX], and the MINI techs were installing mods from dawn 'til dusk. We had such a successful event last year - we're going for round two....

IT'S A PULLEY PARTY!

SATURDAY'S THE BIG DAY AND WE STILL HAVE SOME TIME SLOTS LEFT - Just show up and we'll get the work done for you!

Where: 24 Mont Vernon Rd, Amherst, NH 03031, tel (603) 673-9798
[MAP - Click]

Date: Saturday, 22-September-2007 (rain or shine)
Time: 8:00AM 'til ???

Join sponsors, JMacMINI, AntiqueCarNut and MAMA for a terrific day of MINI fun and camaraderie! We'll provide coffee, bagels and Mrs. CarNut's magnificent blueberry muffins (berries picked at MAMA's Blueberries and BBQ III). Plus we'll have the grill fired-up with burgers, dogs and JMac's famous BBQ beans at lunchtime. A car wash area will be setup for you to clean-up that dirty MINI, too. So bring your MINI, your newly acquired performance or bling parts... and don't forget to bring your S.O. It's OK to attend just to schmooze and kick tires.

MINI supertech, Pete Eames, BWROOFCHEX, and his sidekick John, will work their magic on your MINI. Need that Supercharger pulley? A new Intake installed? Sway bar? Springs? Intercooler? Brakes? Oil / filter change? Bling, or??? This is the day to have it done! Sorry, no exhaust work, this time around. Pete and John's rates are very reasonable and their work is top-notch; the MINI meisters accept cash or check only, please. Example rates below are labor only - you supply your own parts - so be sure to order in plenty of time from your favorite supplier:

SC Pulley install: $200
Rear Sway Bar install: $65.00
Intake install: $50.00
Four springs install: $125.00

If you're interested in joining us, just reply to this thread - or send me a PM. I will work the timeslots, depending on who wants what kind of work done. If you have a time preference range, I'll try to accomodate your request.

We'll have three garage bays for work, plus two more bays to keep MINI's out of the rain - and plenty of room to park dozens of MINI's.

We'll post signs along the way - some MINI's lost their way on the route to JMac's, last year. Don't miss out! It could be another year 'til the next PP!

Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled installation time. This will help us to keep things moving smoothly

Nice! I'll see what I'll have in my hands then for Pete to install!

Last year was a blast and I didn't even get anything put on the MINI!

Count me in!

How about a permanent driving lite install - or have you just grown accustomed to those zip ties?

Sheena, I still have those driving light mounting brackets. I can bring them to NHIS on Aug 233 and hand them off to Pete, who can hand them off to you / install them.

Yes! The zip tie mounting configuration is starting to cause problems for my clear bra actually, so this mod will be on the agenda for sure.

And yes! That would be awesome! I'll be all set for Pete to install them! Thanks so much!

Pete (Mr Chex), have you done the belt on a Cooper? Mine's been on there for around 50,000 miles and has started to make a little noise. It's probably up to be changed at my next scheduled inspection in ~4000 miles, but...

a belt is no problem Jason, making noise can be an indication of the tensioner going bad also.

Please pencil me in for a rear sway bar install. Might need front brake pads by then too.

Any time is fine as I'm just a lug nut's throw from JMac's house.

Hey Pete, I may want to come in for an oil change. Also, install the front strut bar and rear ones (did you tell me if I got the strut bar that goes over the top of the engine, I should get the one that goes on the back of the rear seat?) If so then I'll order them both.

That sounds good becca! You don't have to get the rear brace, it does limit the cargo in the back, however, when I drove mine with just the front on, it felt kind of loose in the back, untill I put the rear one on. They really seem to tighten the body up.

Alright, I'm now scheduled for the MoP / Lyon-Waugh track thingy at NHIS on the 21st. So, anybody want to offer up a spare bed for Friday night? Then I could hang out at the pulley party or possibly get that belt replaced.

Pete,
in addition to the new belt tensioner , I'd like to have a Detroit Tuned bypass valve installed as well. I haven't ordered this yet , but if you give a green light to the approx 1 hour additional time, I'll do so and bring it with me. I have a PDF of the install so if you want to check it out before answering, pm me an email address and I'll forward it along for your viewing peasure.
