I'm already signed up. Now I know that the tech inspection doesn't have to be done by MoP I'm going to see if Pete at DT can do it for me.

All I need now is a crash helmet.

See you all there.

Hmmm... didn't see any email and I know MOP have my email address... Oh well. Maybe I'll come for the non track driving stuff. Of course with everything that's been going on recently, I haven't managed to do a track day this year like I'd wanted to.

Edit:
My bad... I found the email. It just came at a bad time and I hadn't paid it enough attention.

Well, I'm in - even if at the NHIS track day yesterday I saw money for new tires and brakes go up in smoke with every turn I took...

Since the tires held up well on Thursday, I'm in for this too. What's that famous quote? Oh yes. "There is nothing -- absolute NOTHING -- half so much worth doing as simply messing-about changing tires and brake pads".

I've got an extra helmet if anyone needs a loaner send me a PM. I think I've even got a new, unused head sock to go with it.

Please remember, this event is not just Track Day, there are many other off -track events to participate in.

Octoberfast exact date is still up in the air.
Thanks,

Hope so. Just got this email from Peter Bergwell. If it remains true I'm out as there's no way I'm taking an extra day off to drive to MOP for something I can have done 9 miles from home.

"Dear Student,

Please be sure to bring your vehicle to your Lyon Waugh Automotive Group dealer
(Mini of Peabody, BMW of Peabody & Lamborghini Boston) to have a pre-event
safety inspection performed. They have the required form for the inspection and
can be reached at:
Mini of Peabody: 978-536-0088 (
www.minipeabody.com)
BMW of Peabody: 978-538-9900 (
www.bmwpeabody.com)
Lamborghini Boston: 978-531-2855 (
www.lamborghininewengland.com)

The Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report must be presented to the Boston Chapter
Tech Personnel at the track on the day of the event. You will not be allowed to
drive the vehicle on the track without first presenting a signed and completed
Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report. Failure to present a completed Pre-Event
Safety Inspection Report will disqualify you from participation in the event and
your entry fee will be forfeited.

Regards,

Peter Bergwall
Registrar

Odd. Maybe there was another misunderstanding between the club and L-W. Anyway, here's a newer email I received last night, sounds like using MoP for the inspection is indeed optional:

"Dear Student,

Please find attached the Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report. It is recommended that the inspection be performed by a qualified individual who is familiar with the make and model of the vehicle. If you would like to bring your vehicle to your Lyon Waugh Automotive Group dealer to have the inspection performed, they can be reached at:
Mini of Peabody : 978-536-0088
BMW of Peabody : 978-538-9900
Lamborghini Boston: 978-531-2855
The Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report must be presented to the Boston Chapter Tech Personnel at the track on the day of the event. You will not be allowed to drive the vehicle on the track without first presenting a signed and completed Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report. Failure to present a completed Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report will disqualify you from participation in the event and your entry fee will be forfeited.
Regards,
Peter Bergwall, Registrar"

If you don't receive the newer message I can forward the inspection form by email. This should be a great event!

Not just the Cod. I wound up with three different emails about the tech inspection. First said "go to L-W". Second said "we'll send you the form, go anywhere". Third said "here's the form, go anywhere".

I'm out for this event. After this past weekend in Indiana, my pads are shot and I'm out of the kaching. Have fun, everyone. If I can, I'll try to come up to spectate (on a work day...).

HEY!! I resemble that remark! and that's no joke!

They did fix the tech issue and all is well in my slimey world.

Was under the MINI today. Looks like Cherry Bomb tube would fit real nice in there.

H&R's finally went on and the car is oh-so-much-better. That AWD ride height was tres poopie. Rides nice now w/ the Fliks and 215's.
Alta short shifter is wicked ****a. Feels more -better actually- like the STI or RX-8 now and the way it should be.

Can't find an aftermarket brake pad for the R56. What's up with that?

Track Day Update 09/21/07

Hi All!

Just to bring you up to date on our upcoming Track Day at New Hampshire International Speedway on Friday September 21:

As expected the MINI owner response is far surpassing those BMW and Lambo people.

We have the whole facility for the whole day-although we have invited our customers by email, don't be afraid to bring a guest! This is one of the premier Professional Tracks and facilities in the country.

For those of you that do not want to get up early and be there by 7:00 a.m., or do not want to spend the $$ for the on-track portion of the day, ( remember-this includes professional instruction, four 20 minute on track runs, lunch on us, and a goodie bag) please remember you can still do the following;

There will be an open to all ( first come, first served) timed Autocross , similar to our Octoberfast Event , but in a larger area) from 1pm to 4pm.

There are still a few available spots for the free Advanced Driving Skills School in the 8am-10am session-This includes high speed braking and avoidance skills.

For those of you that are "track shy" , or don't want to "beat" your own MINI, you will be able to take a "hot lap" driven by a professional in one of our cars: a Cooper S, 3 or 5 series BMW for $10.00 per lap, all proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund. Lamborghini rides are $20.00 per lap, same charitable donation.

We will have Gary King or service manager, as well as some of our expert techs on hand for free technical advice.

And last but not least, a great chance to mingle with other MINI owners, or show a friend what the MINI experiience is all about!

I hope to see all of our friends there!

Paul T.
