Paul, the email I got with instructions on how to sign up includes this: "***A vehicle Tech Inspection is required to be completed prior to the track event by the Dealership. This will generally cost one hour of labor plus (in most cases) a brake fluid flush. Tech forms will be completed and signed by the dealer and must be brought with you to the event." As much as I like you guys, is the "by the dealership" part a strict requirement? For me to get a one hour inspection at MoP requires a 6+ hour round trip drive, a full day off of work, and your labor rate is higher than where I usually go for a track tech inspection. Other BMWCCA HPDE events do not have this requirement, they specify "a trained tech" or something like that.

Here is a word from Denis Friedman, the event registrar: "Yes, you absolutely need a tech inspection, and a form will be provided for you to fill out. But you don't need to change the brake fluid if it's within that 90 day window. However you should bleed the brakes. Best regards, Denis" Of course my question wasn't "do I need a tech inspection," but rather "do I need another one, if one was done for the August 23 event."

You always need a signed tech inspection form for every track event. If you feel comfortable doing it, you can sign your own form for the second event. If you feel comfortable assessing the state of your car. But you always need a signed tech form for every event. You will want to bleed the brakes between events. This is the way things normally work for BMWCCA events. The added wrinkle for the Lyon-Waugh event, and source of frustration for some of us, is the "A vehicle Tech Inspection is required to be completed prior to the track event by the Dealership. " Which implies that you cannot sign your own form, or even go to another tech for the inspection. We need someone in charge to definitely state that "yes, the inspection must be performed by a Lyon-Waugh dealership" or "No, the standard tech inspection rules apply - any qualified person can perform the inspection".

Track Day Tech Inspection OK, we have a ruling on the Tech inspection. It does not have to be done at MoP . It can be done by any qualified and certified technician at a legitimate place of business ( this doesn't mean your Uncle Joe who once synchronized the carbs on his MG) .I have the form that you need . Just email me if you need it. Please remember, this event is not just Track Day, there are many other off -track events to participate in. Octoberfast exact date is still up in the air. Thanks, Paul T Paul Taylor Mini of Peabody

So you're going! I was going to see if you'd do another bit of GP driving, if I registered and found I didn't want to be closed-in-by-helmet ...
