Hockey Night in Vermont 2007-8

As anyone who knows me even slightly is well aware, I'm a 100% certified hockey freak. And though it may be blasphemy to the ears of some, I actually prefer college hockey over pro hockey. True, the talent and skill level of pro hockey is higher, as it is in almost all pro sports when compared to college sports. But also like almost all college sports, the intensity level of both the players and spectators in college hockey is higher than in pro hockey. No meandering 82 game regular season followed by a three month slog thru the playoffs here, it's a tight schedule of about 30 games, all of which mean far more, there's no phoning it in. Likewise, the fan enthusiasm in college sports is just about the only thing in North American sports that approaches the rabid devotion of your typical European soccer crowd (aside from Sox fans, of course ). It all adds up to a fun way to spend one's winter nights, which is just what I do (a few years ago my name finally lurched to the top of the twenty year waiting list for UVM season tickets, so now I don't have to spend my weekdays fishing for tickets to that weekend's games).

So as we did last year, we're going to pick out a UVM home game (preferably a Saturday, I'm guessing), I'll procure some tickets, and fun will ensue. Maybe cruise Burlington a bit, find some dinner, eat some frighteningly large cupcakes, and watch some hockey. Let me know if you're interested. When we get a date pinned down, I'll highlight it here and stick it in the thread title...

How did I miss this? Maybe I hit my head harder than I thought. Count us in, whenever. I'll make the large cupcakes again if you want me to but you have to eat more.

The large cupcakes scared Jason. Perhaps medium cupcakes.
