2nd Annual Apple Pickin' Sundae - 10/21/07

Time for the 2nd Annual Apple Pickin' Sundae!

The destination is a lovely, quaint, family run pick-your-own apple orchard called George's Hill Orchards in South Lancaster, MA (central MA) that I have been going to for as long as I can remember and it happens to be perfectly nestled along some twisty, old cow-path type roads. They have a huge field/parking area, so I know holding us MINIs there would not be an issue.

Date: OCTOBER 21st, 2007

Time: 12:30pm meet up
Place: Meet up at Papa Razzi on Rt. 2, then a scenic drive over to George's Hill Orchards,
Then we'll be taking the scenic route over to Herbert's Candies and Chocolate Mansion that is right off Rt. 117. They have a "Make your own Sundae" to go along with their ice cream choices, so it should be even more fun! No reason not to make it now -- Apples and Ice Cream!

Last year it rained... a lot... but we still had a phenomenal turn out regardless. So, again this year, so there is no doubts, we will have the event RAIN OR SHINE - but hopefully we'll have SHINE!

Some of the things at the farm:
Hay rides
Pony rides
Petting Zoo
Homemade pies, etc.
A really good grill type "restaurant" on the top of the hill
Ginger Gold, Royal Gala, McIntosh, Cortland, McCoun, Empire, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Mustu apples to pick
Homemade apple cider donuts to DIE FOR

Families are more than welcome to come as well!

Dogs are allowed in the orchard and by the barn as long as they are on a leash!

Hope to see a great turnout!

~ Sheeb

Let's keep the fingers crossed for a little less rain this year! Those cider donuts were tasty.
Added to the calendar, unfortunately the same day as the litchfield hills run.

I'm tentatively in, but there are a couple of track events that weekend which might win out (end of the season and all). This event was a *blast* last year (my very first New England MINI run, I think!), so if you can make it, please do!

Reviving this thread from the bottom of the Sticky threads... Only two weeks away until apple picking!

I am planning the drive this week, should be much more fun now that I know the area much much better!

Perhaps we'll even stop and see the Rhino this year...

Their website says the grille place closes at 3, and we are meeting up at 1 near-ish Boston right? So eating there is not an option I guess?

Also, where is the Papa Razzi on Rt. 2?

Last year, they were just about to close the grille when we got there, but kept it open for us. I pushed the meetup time back to 12:30pm, but the run/gathering is more about picking apples than eating!

Yeah, I can always just eat some apples...driving makes me hungry.
I'll tell the girl to pack us lunch, heh.

...if I can get Sunday off work.
