Jeez, if only you could recommend someone who could write good web inventory software...

I'm sure the software isn't the problem - it's rubbish in, rubbish out that's the issue... I can't see any car dealer (even a MINI dealer) making it easy to shop on the web. They want your feet on their floor so that they can use their age-old sales techniques.

Hey, it worked for Jason! Sooner or later you get to the point of "I might as well jus tgo down there!" Actually, it worked for me too when I bought the Mini, but the dealership already had my online order by then. But actual in-stock inventory would be a useful thing to have. Except it would probably take someone with a camera, a computer and something like a bar code scanner to keep the info updated full time.

Ang,

Unfortunately, it's going to be Thursday that I'm picking up the new car. I would have loved to visit with you and Pat. But I am dependent on other people to help get me down there, and Thursday worked better for them.

Jason, just saw this thread - ouch! My condolences on your loss. It reminds me of looking at pictures of GMiini's after he took his eyes off the road and met the big tree. The video though added an extra element - kinda like watching a train wreck! Sorry it was yours though.
I was picking my car up at my mechanic's - and had noticed a Mini out in front the day before. He said one of his other customer's was selling it - it was an '05 I believe (don't know if it was an S or not) with 15,000 miles, and he sold it for $13K! (Wanted to get an '07) One of the other customers bought it. I thought - "Damn!"
Turns out my guy has been working on Coopers since the original Minis were out - "cut my teeth on them. The new one's are a lot like BMW's".
So at least when the time comes I know a really good mechanic (been going there for almost 30 years) and he's about 200 yards from my office!

So, Bert, you've got no excuse now! (And don't forget the OGMC shirt...)

There's a good chance your frame is OK (and even that is fixable...but not by yourself) because the suspension sacrificed itself. If you had hit the trees instead of the rock, you would have had a lot more damage, and still have suspension damage as well.

If you have your seat belt on, hitting it on the front is better for you than hitting it on the side. When those side bags punch you in the head and in the ribs, it hurts - even a week later. Believe me, I know...

out with the old and in with the new, eh? Too bad you couldn't have jumped on Mr Hyde when it went on the block. Glad to hear that the damage seems to have been restricted to the car and not the driver. Ditto to Ivan's comment about air bags........they really really hurt when they go off and the talcum powder inside stays in the lungs for a long long time.So I guess we'll be seeing you at the PP on the 22nd for a bunch o' mods eh? Jock

out of my mind.........back in five minutes.

Nothing new yet.

The trailer the car is on needs to be empty for the weekend of the 22-23... So... ummm... I'm not sure if the car will be headed to CT to visit Greg before then, or if we will just move the car off the trailer by that weekend and put it someplace else up here in Vermont.

I don't think the car will wind up in CT this weekend - I'm not sure Greg has space for it yet. And I don't know that moving it nid-week will happen either. So, chances are it will be sitting up here for another few weeks.

Which will help me out as that will give me another paycheck before I have to pay for gas to get a truck and the trailer with the MINI on it down to CT.

You could park it in my garage if you need to, but it's neither near you nor Greg, so I'm not sure that helps. Email me if you think it would...

I'm pretty sure a punch in the head by a bag full of air feels a lot better than a punch in the head by a T-boning pickup's metal bumper.

Josh, if reinforced door beams can't stop a T-boning pickup's metal bumper, I'm pretty sure an inflatable bag is not going to stop it either.
