| I too got my invite to the "MotorFest 2007:Live Free or Drive" event by email from Rich at Herb Chambers. I'd like to hear from anyone who has attended a similar event. Is an "autocourse" where you drive through cones at high speeds and do the hard braking and such? Is there a trained professional with you in your MINI? Can more than one driver per MINI run the course? Is it safe to do with only a few thousand miles on the car? Sorry for so many questions, I'd email Rich but I already had to call him to ask him how to set a radio station and turn the GONG volume down because I couldn't find how to do it on my own (after trying for than a week!) |

| Auto cross is not generally "high speed" - the standard layout in the NHIS parking has a max speed about 40mph. At the MINI of Peabody event last week, they sent an instructor out driving you round the track the first time, and you could ask to have an instructor in the passenger seat for future drives. At the Herb Chambers MINI R56 unveiling, they had Skip Barber instructors driving you at more extreme speeds around an auto cross track - if they're doing that, I'd recommend using their car, not yours! |
