Oh, Peter - I don't know...maybe if I can ride in what I think is that BMW SUV. Really, though - it must have been fantastic to see all that you saw and to have fun, too.

How about a MINI trip to Glacier National Park? I'll have my Clubman in May and be ready for the fall or next year in the summer.

MINI's Finally Home - New Bumper (and more)

Play On went to the shop a week ago Monday to have the damaged bumper repaired and came home today.

Turns out it was more than a gaping hole . . .

Radiator mount was busted as was the compressor (no wonder the temp spiked while driving around Boston just before taking it to the shop).

Total cost was $2,600, most of which was picked up by insurance.

Also found out the adjustable camber plate on the passenger side strut is shot, hence the "clunking" sound whenever I hit a bump.

Sounds as though you were lucky to have made it back without having to stop and get it fixed up North. Glad the insurance has covered most of it!

Glad its fixed. I think that gives you a third place finish, after the rollover and spider spikes.
I hate to think what the total damage to all cars over the years on this trip has been.

Yeah, I just had a ton of repairs too. All that mileage is starting to catch up with me. The SES and ASC lights came on and it went into limp mode. I replaced the MAP and T-MAP sensors and also put on a Detroit Tuned bypass valve. That cleared most of the codes but I couldn't figure out why I was still getting a P0107 and an N/A so I broke down and took it to the dealer. They replaced an O2 sensor and the engine wiring harness to the T-MAP sensor. They said the harness was worn through the insulation. Might be good to put extra insulation on it as it's located directly behind the grille.

Although, the cinder block chunk of ice could've happened anywhere . . . At least it didn't happen in Baulene or North West River or Radisson!

The problem with the camber plate may have been caused (or the final straw may have been) on the ferry ride over. That noise, which at the time I thought was related to the ice incident, is what led me to stop and check under the hood, which led to the hood falling . . .

So, maybe the incident is worthy of third place!

Glad to see you're back together Pete.

In other news, the MV Caribou was stuck in the ice for two days this week - sick passenger airlifted in dramatic rescue -- you Arctic Runners dodged a big bullet this time!

Just think how desperate things must have been when they ran out of scrambled eggs and poutine!

Hopefully there were no cattle on board . . .

No, there's provisions for 9 days! Just sit back and enjoy. If the ice is that thick, can't you just get out and walk?

Sure, why no? We walked on the Arctic Ocean, we can walk on the Cabot Strait!

Alright!

Pete E and one of his new techs Daryl fixed the problem that caused the clunking sound that made me check while in Baie Comeaux when it was windy and the bonnet fell on my hand

Turns out the nut on top of the passenger front strut was loose. Took an hour to diagnose and be done.

But, while the MINI was on the lift I noticed the new fog light did not match the original and was loose, so it's back to the body shop . . .
