Well, QQJ got as far as we did in '06 and in true duck fashion, did not get sea sick.

Here's Quack Quack with us at the northern-most point we reached last time on Newfoundland:

Does anyone remember the cod lips at that lunch spot?

Remember them? How could I forget? And they were cheeks and tongues my dear. Lips would just be silly.

Wow, that the second time I have ever heard of having Cod Checks. 1st time was a little local place in Dennis Port, Cape-cod. Kind of place where the music stops when a non local comes in the door.

Whatever those fish PARTS were, I just remember witnessing the indulgence!
...Which is a far cry from my hot and sour soup at that Canton place the day before!

Hotel v Inn

I have contacted the Abba Inn. While they don't have 4 rooms with 2 beds each, given the season they may have 8 beds available. I've spoken with the owner, who was out of the Inn, and sent a follow up email at his request. He'll let me know if there's anything he can do.

Abba Inn and Gower House - St. John's Downtown

I can get a "family and friends" rate at the Courtyard by Marriott. They have rooms available at that rate for CDN$99.00 (two beds per room). I'm not sure if they have four rooms at this rate, however.

So, do you have a preference for the Abba Inn or the Courtyard, assuming both have space available? Is your preference based on lowest cost? If necessary, would you be willing to pay a few dollars (say CDN$10) more per night for one or the other?

$10 a night wouldn't make a difference to me. I already have the Abba on my GPS.

The Calais was fine, very friendly.

We should try to get there earlier this year before the sidewalks are rolled up and so we won't keep the restaurant staff up.
