Hello,

The popularity of the Mount Washington Observatory tour remains as strong as ever. In our fifth year, 38 entries were received for a total of 81 drivers and passengers.

Unfortunately, this means a number of MOT participants won't be able to take the tour this year. But for those who do, it will be a great learning experience ~ especially if the winds are really high

In other news, the registration packets were put together today ... I'll be mailing them out early next week!

Current count is 218 MINIs, 460 people ... but that includes Venno!

BTW - MINIUSA will be represented again this year by George Alvord and our long-time friend Gerry Matthews. Also, RAEvents (the folks who are helping to put on MTTS 2008) will be represented by Kevin Connolly.

Last chance to sign up!

New this year will be a slow speed competitive event called "Driving
Skills 'Limpics' " or DSL for short. Entry is free, but because of
time and space constraints, the event will be limited to 30
participants that sign up.

WHEN: Saturday, June 28, 2008
WHERE: Loon Mountain parking lot
WHAT TIME: After the Meet & Greet, Boot Sale, Concours d'Elegance and
those going on the Kanc or the Franc drives leave the parking lot
(around 12 noon)

WHAT IS IT: A slow speed, timed, competitive, multidiscipline driving
event that will test your ability to navigate your MINI through an
obstacle course forward and backwards, while completing various tasks.
In other words, A FUN THING TO DO and FUN THING TO WATCH for the whole
family.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Send an e-mail with 'DSL' as the Subject line and your name in the

You must be registered for 08 MOT. The sign up ends June 15th!

Reservation? Isn't that where they put people they don't know what to do with?

I actually read through a good part of of the 2008 thread. It just seems that MoT has lost some of it's je ne sais quoi. Where is the "I'll kick your skinny little ass in the parking lot"? Where is the "You're so old you look like John Secco"? Where is the banter, the joviality, the fun? Where is the "Hey 3M, I'm freakin' kidding, get over it, will ya"? Where is the anticipation? It seems like a conveyor belt. An assembly line. More announcements of the "fun to be had" then the actual "fun being had".

But hey. What was then is not now, what is now, unfortunately, has good potential of being better than the future.

I'll go now. My furlough is over anyway. My coat's hanging in the corner, it's the straightjacket. Help me into it if you will. But not quite as tight as last time please. Made me fart.
