The Dog At My Packet

My dog ate my MoT registration packet...... really...Cooper the MINI dog was apparently upset that he was home alone. I'l be easily identified by the chewed up badge holder and half a badge.

er, that's "Ate"

MOT Rides Reminder

Howdy MOT Participants --

Less than a week to go before MOT 2008! We'd like to remind you to take a few minutes and review the MOT 2008 Rides Overview that as included in your registration packet.

There are three different group rides leaving from Loon Mountain parking lot on Saturday morning. All of them take you towards your destination for the afternoon and evening events -- the Mt. Washington Auto Road. The rides are optional, of course, but if you don't have any other plans, jump in.

We will make every attempt to organize parking at Loon so we can coordinate ride departures when the time comes -- we know everyone doing the rides will enjoy them more if they're with as many MINIs as possible. You can do your part by reading the descriptions and selecting your ride before you arrive at Loon. But if you can't decide before then, that's okay -- we'll help you out. Also, if you're joining in at the Friday night soiree at the Town & Country, ask around -- the veterans are always ready to offer advice.

A few hints about choosing a ride...
If this is your first MINIs On Top, we strongly recommend the Kancamagus Highway Ride. It's a great road through a beautiful area.

If you're looking for an alternative, you can pick between the spectacular Franconia Notch via I93 or the scenic backroads through the towns of Franconia and Bethlehem. Both rides take you through Crawford Notch on Rt. 302, with some excellent choices for a picnic lunch at the Willey House.

Speaking of lunch, remember to stop in Lincoln on your way in to Loon on Saturday morning and pick up your picnic. That's also a good time to fill your MINIs tank, so you're ready for the rest of the day.

Finally, when you get to the Loon Lot, the kids from the Lin-Wood Regional High School will be running a car wash. It's a great chance to support the local community and get the dust off your MINI before the ride.

See you on Saturday!

Paul,

That's a classic! Our Cooper also took a swipe and the registration packet and dragged around the t-shirt until we noticed him skulking off to a dark corner of the house.

OK, who soaked the registration packets in meat?

Folks,

Remember that there are two "feeder" caravans to Gorham on Friday. From western MA, the Yankee Candle caravan will leave from.....(wait for it)......Yankee Candle in S. Deerfield, MA. From eastern MA, the Boston caravan will be leaving from the Commerce Way lot. Both caravans will merge at a rest area (Area51) just before mile marker 51 on I-93 about 15 miles north of Concord, NH.

See THIS thread for more info...

From a post by Jeff West (HWY61) prior to MOT07:

A post by Ed 10 days before MOT ' 05 and I thought it so sums up his outlook he so happily shared with us all :

"
...the weekend will be what it is. MINIs On Top will define itself. It is like a river overflowing it's banks. It cannot be contained. Go with the flow. Don't dip your toe. Full immersion is the way. In the end you will find it less about the cars than the people who inhabit them.

I await the weekend with the unbridled enthusiasm of a six year old hearing the faint sound of distant bells as the Ice Cream Man approaches his street from blocks away. It's coming. It's coming. I hear them. Listen. Hear it? I told you. Woohoo.

The orchestra begins to assemble. Instruments are drawn from their cases. Violins drawn to chins and bows begin to slide across strings. Each member as yet unaware of the other as they continue to tune their individual instruments but soon the house lights will dim and the Great Cod will rise from the pit and behold MINIs On Top shall fill the great mountain valleys and the sweet music of 208 motors and Motorers shall rise to the heavens and it will be said of the Grand Cod.. It is a good.
Peace, Sunshine, and Goodwill be yours. Can I get an Amen?..."

Amen Ed

For those new to MOT and don't know Ed just ask anybody with a duck featured somewhere on their MINI.
And with just a few days to go it looks like we may need to invoke Ed to intercede with the weather gods...

Yes, the weather forecast is not good right now., especially as the forecasts converge. Optimism or denial, these are our choices

Does anyone know if the moose run on Friday night hits dirt roads?

Thanks!

1:00 pm. The merged caravans will leave A51 at 2:00. Be there ahead of time so that you can pick your route to Gorham and socialize a bit.

Will you be driving the go kart or the MINI?

Yeah, not sure if Armen and I will be there, Richard. No real sense to go into the city and then come back out. But, we'll see...

Thanks for the info guys!

For anyone planning (or considering) meeting up with the Boston area folks Friday morning, here's a link for the location. It's north of 128 on 93, atr Exit 37C. There's a Starbucks there if you need some java.
