Offline | Hey thanks for the reminder -- counting down just 13 days to the event! Actually much has been going while this thread has been sleeping. We've driven the car (with questionable legality) to Connecticut, stripped the radio, antenna, glass, lights. Got our total investment in the beast down to $431 (not counting safety items). Air chiseled the doors, while braking the steering wheel and a few other things not entirely on purpose too ! We remove and break more things at Greg's today....also time to start in on the full counterfeit MINI treatment. - Pete, Brian, John, Jason, Greg, David Check our newly updated blog here |

A bit of advice for those of you who aren't used to wearing a helmet you should start wearing them now around the house or while you are sitting at the computer. Work your way up to an hour or two. Offline | Just got back from another day of prep. I'm sure the others will chime in too, Brian was snapping photos along the way. Car looks good. The exhaust still needs to be put back together but Greg has all the pieces and it just needs welding. The cat has been removed to exchange for $$$ towards the other parts. Seat is back in, nice drivers side door beams (similar to Greg's car for those who've seen that), removable wheel borrowed from Greg's buddy Ted. We've got the counterfeit MINI look going quite well too... The car's going to be ready... don't know about the drivers..! Doubt we'll be mo-blogging from the race next weekend, but we may get a chance to update from Theo-HQ... It depends how long we have to spend on Saturday night beating panels back into shape..!  |

Offline | Incredible effort by every single member of Italian Job Racing! Despite various penalties requiring us to sit out about 1/2 the race (some fair, some maybe not so), we crossed the finish line with a still running strong counterfeit MINI yesterday. Many thanks for the teamwork by our pit crew (Theo, Gavin, Joe and Sarah) and driving skills displayed in the face of losely organized mayhem (Greg, Jason, Brian, Pete and John). Our comeback may have been in no small part due to the good karma embued by the liberal application of Merco Tape from Dave Rose a.k.a. "DuctTape" MINI. More details, stories, videos, pictures, and driver complaints against the Stafford Springs track officials likely to follow. |
