initially, we are doing a "Jock and Hannah take to the states" for about 3 months starting roughly after our condo has sold and our belongings start their 3 month trip via boat to CR and when we are ready to make the leap, the new car will be stashed at my son's house in Montana and be there whenever we come back to see them. The new car is the hot chocolate/silver combo(see Hrach's ride below) and will have a roof rack and pod. Premium chocolate leather with beige piping similar to the car at MoP . Zane will hit EBAY after the 27th and I'll be looking for about 10K if you know anyone looking for a lovingly maintained high mileage MCS with a TON of add ons and extras(2 sets of wheels, extra parts, tools, etc.) Saab's for sale too.

out of my mind.........back in five minutes.

Jock, have you driven a Clubman, yet? What does Hannah currently drive? I'm assuming you'll be down to the one car in the US once you move to CR? How trustworthy is your son? 'Cause if he gives you trouble, I'm here for ya, man.

We went down to MoP the next day after the roll out and took a clubman S for a LOOOOONG drive. We'll be selling both cars ( R53 and Saab 9-3) to be able to justify this. Anyone have any pictures or links to the MINI sized camper trailers I know I've seen in the past?
We're headed to CR tomorrow morning EARLY(5:30) for a week. Should have some good pics when we get back!

Thanks Brian, if I need some leg breaking for #1 son, I'll be sure to look you up!

out of my mind.........back in five minutes.

Jock,

You might want to check out the T@B Trailer. I've actually seen one of these in person. It's very compact, lightweight, and built extremely well. However, I think they are rather pricey. Hey, just add the cost to the bank note!

Did you drive a Cooper Clubman as well as the Cooper S Clubman?

no, just the S. That's the trailer! Do you happen to know what "pricey" is? Site doesn't discuss prices.

My friend Jim in Nebraska has one that he brings down to the Dragon each year:

Give him a yell if you want more info. He's "Zyamfier" on NAM. You can get him via Flickr mail, too.

I looked into these trailers just over a year ago. At that time, the most expensive T@B configuration (with some options) was about $10,000; the cheapest was mid-$8,000 range. However, they weigh-in just south of 2,000 lbs which allowed compatibility with my towing class.

There's a dealer locater on the website; I'd drop by to look at one because they are well-equipped, easily configurable, but on the small side. The one I was thinking about had a galley in the tail. A back hatch raises up to shelter/reveal an outdoor kitchen set up. This configuration seem to provide the most room inside the trailer. Of course, we anticipated summer use only.

I noticed that they now have a bigger version of the T@B as well. I imagine it is well over 2,000 lbs!

Hope this helps,

Theo

cool. I saw the one with the pop up rear facing kitchen too, very cool. I've sent away for info and at some point will take a trip up to Windham ME. to have a look see. How do you figure out what a Clubman will tow ? I would hope that the trailer carries it's own weight over its own axle and that all the car is doing is the towing, with very little weight being born by the car, yes? I wonder what the loss of MPG would be.Thanks for all the info , Theo!
