Offline | I am new to the thread as well. This sounds great, count me in. Love the t-shirt idea. Glad the America's Stonehenge talk died. Even better is Carhenge out in Nebraska. A Stonehenge replica made out of junked cars painted completely grey. Classic. Hey, I met Chris and CCM at Peabody's customer appreciation day. I was sitting at the counter eating the grill food with you guys. Hope to see you two in June. |

Offline | I remember you! Welcome mmartel and binxy. Glad there are more people coming aboard. I was just researching some B&B's, Inns, motels in the N. Conway, Glen, Jackson area. There a couple available through Priceline.com in North Conway. Probably the Red Jacket and the other Davenport property. I'll probably start bidding for a N.Conway motel and if I get it reasonably I'll post it here. In case anyone is interested in researching lodgings you can go here: http://www.4seasonresort.com/lodging.cfm If you are planning on staying over in the area you may want to consider booking way in advance. I could be wrong, there may be loads of rooms available up there in June. Here's a quaint looking cottage place in Conway. Cheap too at $71-81/cottage/night: http://www.sunnybrookcottages.com/index.htm Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs Last edited by Cape Cod MINI : Feb 19th, 2003 at 11:29 PM. |

Online | I got my MC from HC with no problem, unless you count the required $1600 in extras - but that was OK by me to drive a MINI 9 months early! There are complaints from some about sales people not calling back - but if you have your car ordered then you are fine ![]() There are also complaints from some about HC service - I have not been to HC MINI, but their Mercedes dealership treated my wife very badly last time (and yes, that will be the last time we go there!) |

Offline | Re: Sunset It's possible if we get enough MINI's. Private sunset drive up the mountain after the road closes. I'm still waiting to hear from the right people at Mt. Washington. Offline | HERE'S THE SCOOP ON THE EVENING RUN UP MT. WASHINGTON: Just spoke to Tim Chapman (special events coordinator) at Mt. Washington Auto Road. We'll need $600- minimum to reserve the private sunset tour. This will give us the auto road to ourselves for the evening. (Sorry, no time trials to the summit )Price is $20/adult and $10/child (under 14 I assume). Yes, the rates are slightly higher but the trade-off is well worth it IMHO. The BBQ option is $10/per person. They'll work with us on the menu but it generally consists of bbq chicken or burgers and dogs, green salads, pasta salads, non-alcohol drinks. He has graciously penciled us in for the 21st to keep it exclusive for us. He'll hold it for a week or two. I would need some firm commitments from folks via Email to Me so that I wouldn't be personally holding the bag on a $600- private drive up Mt. Washington I need 29 people willing to commit to $20 for a heckofa good time. Please let me know if you are interested in the feed too.I think this could be the MINI event of the year (if it doesn't rain). A group of MINI nuts together for fun and food, the auto road to ourselves and a sunset view from the top of the highest peak in the east. So many Kodak moments! Please Contact Me as soon as possible if you want to join in the fun. Steve Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |

Offline | Steve- Count me in for 2 adults and 2 BBQs. You want a check now? Please let me know. One issue may be $$. I don't think any of us would be miserly enough to object to a "no refund" policy. Certainly if you are nice enough to act as an organizer and $ clearinghouse, we are realistic enough to understand that you could be stretched if we reserve, then back out, then show up on 6/21 with a sudden mind change, etc. So I suggest that seriously interested MINIers decide, pay, and either be there or be content to hear later what a great time the rest of us had. Just my opinion. Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear. |

Offline | NO, it's not limited. The MINIMUM the Auto Road requires is $600 for the private drive event. My simple equation was I need 29 more people at $20 each to reach that minimum requirement. MORE is definately better ![]() I will have more information on refunds when I get detailed written information. I'm assuming there will be a cancellation/refund policy spelled out. As this gels I will provide information on this and payment requirements. Thanks to those who have responded so quickly. As of this morning there are 9 positive responses. Only 21 to go. Offline | I like that idea. People could show their interest in accomodations by responding to this thread. As we all know booking early is paramount in the Glen/Conway/N.Conway area. If anyone has any suggestions for motels, hotels, cottages that would be great. I did find two cottage colonies on the 'net that look OK. I put a link to one of them a bit earlier in this thread. Just got 5 more commitments to the trip so things are looking good! I will do a newsgroup email list for the MOTley (Mini's On Top)crew when we get more commitments. Re: Peabody. I'll be there this coming Tuesday to have my windshield replaced. Plan on speaking to them at that time. Going to see if I can extort just $10- from them to sponsor so that we can then use the MINI logo on t-shirts. Offline | Count us in for... Saturday night at any place with clean sheets and, preferably, a bar. I owe you a drink, Steve. Let me guess..6/21 might be a bit early for Tanqueray & tonic and, at night, how about a good single malt? Lawdy, Lawdy, the Cross I bear. |

Offline | Received the packet from Mt. Washington this week. From the packet: "Sunset Drive up the Mt. Washington Auto Road: This unique opportunity allows you to drive your own car to the summit of Mt. Washington to enjoy the sunset and beautiful views. Many automobile clubs around New England and beyond have taken advantage of this opportunity as a venue to hold gatherings and functions. Cost(s): Adults $20.00 p/p, Children ages 5-12 $10.00 p/p. Minimum of $600.00 needed to reserve trip. Normal vehicle limitations apply." Regarding the outdoor BBQ: "....this is a great way for your group to socialize before your tour. Menu options offer pasta, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, and vegetarian choices. Cost: Add $10.00 p/p to the total cost of your function." "Deposit/Payment Information: A 50% deposit is due 30 days from the booking date to reserve your function. The full balance is due 30 days from the function date.....A full refund willb be granted if the management of the Mt. Washington Auto Road determines that the trip will not be safe. No other refunds will be granted. These same safety considerations may dictate a trip to the 5000 foot marker on the Auto Road, which will be considered a full trip." As of today (March 2nd) there are 21 people on board. THANK YOU!! Being this early in the game I'm sure we'll reach the minimum w/out any problems. I will front the deposit $$ in the next couple of weeks so we are definately booked. In the next few weeks I'll put together a newsgroup emailing to keep the ball rolling. Would anyone care to continue with design ideas for t-shirts? I really liked the logo that rfinprc made up (page 4 of this thread) but I don't think the Auto Road would be too thrilled if we showed up w/ their hijacked logo. If that could be modified a bit........or if anyone is buddies with cooperation (the mini2 photoshop king) and he helps out if I promise 2 free t-shirts...... ![]() Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |
