Offline | Lime Rock Any events at Lime Rock this year that would allow a stock Mini S on the track? Might there be a Mini Club event? |

Offline | BMWCCA BMWCCA is known to be accepting MINIs in their ranks. They do limerock frequently. Your best bet in my opinion. My best bet, too. MINICCA is fledgeling and to be honest, threatened by BMWCCA's inclusiveness. Maybe like you said, a mini club... I've been wanting to get up there. ![]() NY/NE Mod |

Offline | From what I've seen the Boston chapter of the BMWCCA only has one Lime Rock event planned this year - on April 1st I think (seriously). They seem to be concentrating on the NH motor speedway place instead. I think the CT chapter may be planning more Lime Rock events, so I may see if I can switch chapters. I know Lime rock always gets booked up by clubs and each event is always over subscribed. A friend of mine is in the PCA (and it pit crew for a car in the Rolex 24hr this wweekend) and he says the PCA accepts BMWCCA members to their events. Don't know if that will help for Lime Rock as the other clubs are usually subject to a delay, by which time the event may be full anyway. I don't know if it makes things better or worse if you're a complete novice (like I am). I imagine they have a fixed number of spaces in each class, but I've no idea whether in any given season there are more beginners or intermediates... |

| Summer Splasher | check lime rock's website www.limerock.com (I think) check the car club schedule...I wish they actually had the dates, but they don't - just the contact people. I bet I you called them up on the phone, they could mail you a real schedule of club events, then using the contact list, get on track. For the schedule of events. There are various private clubs that have track days........bonnet and boot for one, also cart....connecticut autocross and racing team, plus the bmwcca, ferrari club, porsche club, etc. , etc.... I heard some rumor of something on May 2 or 3rd, that may be available for street MINIs........... Good idea to keep this thread alive, for those who may wish to take their MINI to Lime Rock and enjoy the track experience with the new car! Wouldn't it be cool to blow the doors off some other brand autos that are supposed to be much faster!~!!!! |

Offline | I have yet to get my car on the track at LRP but I am well acquainted with the BMWCCA events they have there. I am not sure about the specifics of registration but the rest of it works like this: -There are two ratings for helmets "M" and "S". You need an "S" level helmet, to get on the track. -You have a tech inspection first thing in the morning where they will approve your helmet, (they put some sort of cheap little sticker on it), and look your car over to see if A) It's track worthy (which won't be a problem with a new car) and B) What class you will be in. Any modifications you have done to your car will be taken into account here. Intake/exhaust, etc. will land you in a higher class with tougher competition. -As a novice you will have an instructor. These are officially "driver schools" for insurance reasons. Trust me, you want an instructor to show you the lines and generally give advice. The esses are especially wierd in their ingress/egress lines. They will also, in most cases, open the chicane in the back straight to slow people down coming into the downhill right going to the front straight. Intermediates also have instructors I believe. If you have a four point harness or anything similar for yourself you must also have one for the instructor. -We are going to whip ass in the bendy parts but, unfortunately, we can only pass on the front and back straights as novices. If you move to pass in these areas, which we inevitably will do at some point, keep in mind that some guy with a Z06 Vette or a Supra with a turbo upgrade could be coming up behind you at 170. We will most likely top out at about 120 on the long front straight going into Big Bend. -Our cars are really going to clean up at autocross events. I have taken the Skip Barber course up at Lime Rock but I am stil going to do many C.A.R.T. events in Waterbury or wherever before I hit up LRP. The first one is on April 13th I think. -I can't wait for the roads to clean up and the season to start. This is going to rule. MCS Pure Silver/Black Illegitimi non carborundum. |

Offline | If you're a member of the Boston chapter of the BMWCCA you can sign up starting today for the Drivers Ed at LRP on April 1st. Personally, this one is too soon for me (my S won't be broken in) but I may try to go down to see what goes on at one of these things. |
