Anyone going through the first day?
I'm going up to Peabody on Monday and am sort of excited about going through the new tunnel and finally driving on the new bridge.
I'm guessing it's still going to be backed up down at the split and on up towards the city. Of course it'll still be crazy when I get up to 128 in Woburn.
Hope all this work really makes a difference.

Been to Boston many times. I try to stay away as much as possible, the drivers have no clue on what they are doing. The signage on the streets are just a suggestion to them. God knows how they are going to deal with a tunnel.

Good luck in the Tunnel and getting to Peabody. Nice place Peabody been there many time as well.

No the Big Dig is not finished. The south bound tunnel will be open in 2004.
tip is right.
The tunnel also has only two exits. I'll find it hard to believe that this is going to solve the traffic woes.

Wow, I should hope that ALL traffic 'woes' would be solved after a construction initiative of this magnitude...

Yup, I went through late Mon. morning. No delays at all. It's a short ride. Well marked and very well lit. No need to take the sunglasses off. There's a nice long left curve that is nicely banked. I think it could make for some interesting late night 80+mph runs

Traffic still sucks everywhere else around Boston though!

I guess it makes you want to go out and change the exhaust on the car, so you can hear the exhaust note bounce off the walls in the tunnel.

How are the Mass State Troopers lately when it comes to the tunnel? All freaked out about terrorists? Can you go a little over the speed limit through the tunnel so you can have a little fun? Any tolls yet?

Was it the winter of 2004 we met north of Boston at Krispy Kreme and then had the Big Dig/Logan Run? It was wicked cold but lots of fun.

Yeah...that day was really cold.
That Krispy Kreme turned into a Kelley's Roast Beef!!!
Haven't been...but I always go by it while going to that bigass Kappy's liquor store to pick up a couple cases of Lone Star.
